I am very glad indeed to come to Westminster College this afternoon, and I am complimented that you should give me a degree from an institution whose reputation has been so solidly established. The name "Westminster" somehow or other seems familiar to me. I feel as if I have heard of it before. Indeed now that I come to think of it, it was at Westminster that I received a very large part of my education in politics, dialectic, rhetoric, and one or two other things. In fact we have both been educated at the same, or similar, or, at any rate, kindred establishments.
It is also an honor, ladies and gentlemen, perhaps almost unique, for a private visitor to be introduced to an academic audience by the President of the United States. Amid his heavy burdens, duties, and responsibilities--unsought but not recoiled from--the President has traveled a thousand miles to dignify and magnify our meeting here to-day and to give me an opportunity of addressing this kindred nation, as well as my own countrymen acrothe ocean, and perhaps some other countries too.

人生必须渡过逆流才能走向更高的层次，最重要的是永远看得起自己。 有一天某个农夫的一头驴子，不小心掉进一口枯井里，农夫绞尽脑汁想办法救出驴子，但几个小时过去了，驴子还在井里痛苦地哀嚎着。
最后，这位农夫决定放弃，他想这头驴子年纪大了，不值得大费周章去把它救出来，不过无论如何，这口井还是得填起来。于是农夫便请来左邻右舍帮忙一起将井中的驴子埋了，以免除它的痛苦。

突然，一只老天鹅腾空而起，它并没有飞走，而是利用下落的冲力，像石头似的，用自己的胸脯和翅膀重重地扑打冰面。镜子般的冰面被震得颤动起来。接着，又是第二次，第三次
别的天鹅似乎怔住了。它们呆呆地站在那里，瞧着这位“破冰勇士”。只听得“咯吱——”冰层裂开了一条小缝，接着又裂开了一条冰面终于塌陷了，出现了一个小的冰窟窿。有几只天鹅来帮忙了，很快，整群天鹅，大约百来只，都投入了破冰工作。它们干得那样齐心，那样欢快!湖面上传来阵阵“克噜——克哩——克哩”的叫声，就像那激动人心的劳动号子：“兄弟们哪，加油!齐心干哪，加油!”

美国有个心理学家曾做过这样一个实验，将一群小孩子实置在同一个房间，并放上糖果，告诉他们糖果只能等工作人员回来再吃，然后又用隐藏的摄像头观察他们，发现只有少部分孩子克服了糖果的诱惑，而大多数都吃下了糖果。以后工作人员跟踪调查，发现没吃糖的孩子**后在事业上大多都很成功，而吃了糖的那部分孩子却少有成就，并且失业率很高。
自律曾造就了一个个光辉的形象，一代影星成龙在出国的时候，他父亲告诫他三点：“不许赌博，不许吸毒，不许加入。”在金钱、地位、利益面前，成龙能够约束自己，抵制住诱惑，这为他日后成功奠定了坚实的基础。
由此可见，自律是成功的基石。
尤其在物质生活日益发达的今天，面对各种各样的诱惑，我们稍不注意，就会陷入泥潭之中，难以自拔。作为高中生更是如此。羽翼未丰的我们做事前往往有欠考虑，对自己放任自流，最终酿成大错，悔之晚矣。
对于疾病，人类最高明的方法是预防，对于人生道路上的伤害，最高明的方法是设法避免，而自律便是预防针。人生来说不是自由的，有环境束缚着你，道德规范着你。与其去追求绝对的自由，还不如从内心深入去认识这些束缚的必要性。只有这样，你才能找到相对的自由，达到灵魂的升华。那么，如何学会自律呢？
首先要明辨是非，要知道什么是对的，什么是错的，要从多方面来思考问题，不能被事物表象所迷惑，从而控制自己私念和欲望。比如能不能在自*课上控制自己讲话的欲望，能不能在排队打饭时抛弃插队的想法，能不能在升旗时始终保持严肃的态度，这些都需要自律。
其次，自律行为跟顽强的意志力是分不开的，没有顽强意志力的支撑，自律只是一纸空文，也许你有了自律的意识，但行为表现出的却与自律所要求的不相称。这时，就需要顽强的意志力作助推剂，将内心的意识变为行动。
再次，要从小事做起。自古以来，律已的人都是注重小节的，他们明白“千里之堤溃于蚁穴”的道理。如果让小的陋*任其发展，不加以控制，那么它就会像滚雪球一样越滚越大，最终造成严重后果。
最后，要经常反思。“君子博学而日参省乎已，则知明而无过矣。”只有经常反省自己的过失，才会不断积累经验，更加严格要求自己。

确实，困难磨砺人生，上天对每个人都是公*的。他给我苦难的同时又给了我解决苦难的力量。在一此次的跌倒中我学会了乐观，学会了自信，锻造出坚韧的意志，不拔的信念，而一直支持着我的是一份责任，我不只是我自己，我还是父母的儿子。所以，我必须努力！
一年前，抹下悔恨的泪，抚*高考的痛，踏上北上的列车，我来到这里，来到这么一个大家庭。我当时告诉自己，当命运折断希望的风帆，不能绝望，彼岸还在！当命运凋零了美丽的花瓣，不要沉沦，绿叶还在。没有一个季节能把青春阻挡！这里是我人生的一个转折，又一个起点，在这里我更加懂的得了集体的荣誉，团度的协作。付出了很多，也学会了很多。有酸、有甜、有苦、有涩。七彩的味道充斥着我的大学生活，也许多年以后回想起来，这里就是我人生记忆中一颗闪烁的'明星.

大家好!
我想现在很多的年轻人，少男和少女，会盲目地羡慕电视偶像剧里，男女主角多姿多彩的感情生活。其实，每个人都是独一无二的个体。任何一个人，都有属于自己的一条轨道，谁也无法，被他人复制与取代。不论会遭遇怎样的喜、怒、哀、乐、怎样的人和事，你都有经过量身定做、只适合你自己去扮演的角色与戏份。
通常，大部分人都想模仿偶像的生活。所谓“家家有本难念的经”，你所钦慕的对象，在你看到的另一面，他们和她们，有什么样的烦恼和缺憾，你不会知道，或者也不会感兴趣。
每天你上学，坐同一班公共汽车，或许当天出门前，还跟妈妈怄气，中午吃几元钱的快餐，上课时，与同学发生些小争执，周末跟朋友，人挤人地看场电影，在假日的夜晚上网聊天。这些生活中的琐碎细节，全部集合起来，就算是一种人生戏剧，你已经在演以自己为主角的偶像剧了。
生活，不一定要有惊天动地的情节，才叫精彩;感情，也并非要有山盟海誓，才算真爱。电视中的偶像剧，因为收视率和时间的原因，必须把真实的时空压缩，然后以紧凑的剧情与夸张的情节，铺设故事内容。这就像你，可以透过一场一两个小时的电影，观赏一个人长长的一生，或者了解一个民族的兴衰、一段历史的更迭。但是，真实的人生琐碎、冗长和沉闷，甚至会有很多机械式的重复。这些所谓*凡单调的生活，在讲究戏剧冲突和张力的偶像剧里，是无法体现出来的。
不要一直抱怨和不满足于，自己所能控制、拥有的一切，其实，每个人都在演自己的，独一无二的偶像剧。在这场戏里，你的角色与戏份儿，没有人能够取代。你只能真正发自内心地，接受现在所能拥有的一切，不管是外貌、身材、学历、朋友圈、工作环境，还是家世背景、所交往的对象，否则你就会永远没有快乐的一天。因为，一个人最大的'悲哀，就是不愿意做自己，更不能战胜自己。
真正的成功，不在于战胜别人，而在于战胜自己。有些人从小，就崇拜一个又一个战胜别人的强者，他崇拜征战杀场，踏着血泊，穿过硝烟的将军，崇拜技巧娴熟，运用力量、柔美战胜世界劲敌的运动员，他所崇拜的太多太多。
可日益长大后，才发现战胜自己，才应该充当社会的主流，成为他自己的奋斗目标。
保尔柯察金战胜了自己，让世人看到了他那钢铁般的意志;张海迪全身高位截瘫，自学了四门语言，成了著名的作家：霍金虽然瘫痪，却成了众所周知的宇宙之父……这样的例子在过去、现在都比比皆是，他们之所以取的了成功，都与他们战胜自己分不开。
战胜自己，需要勇气。司马迁虽受宫刑，仍然坚强不屈，完成了巨著《史记》。战胜自己，要比战胜别人难的多，因而战胜自己，就要有坚忍不拔的意志，要有根深蒂固的信念，要有，在逆境中成长的信心，要有，在风雨中磨练的决心战胜自己并非易事，所以我们要培养战胜自己的目标、决心、能力及克服困难的勇气。

神秘的复活节岛的石像，它们经历过千年风雨的洗礼，是信念让它们笑对世间仓桑，是执着让它们屹立不倒。
人生就像一盘棋局，你想要杀的精彩，就要敢于落子。我们的幻想毫无价值，我们的计划渺如尘埃，只有我们的行动才能改变一切。
要实现一个远大目标的方法就是“从西第一个盘子开始”。古语有云“欲速则不达”，也对一口起吃不了一个胖子，不要着急妄想把目标一下子完成，那么只会使你手足无措，最后只会一事无成。对于那些远大的目标，我个人认为我们无须太着急，只要一步步走下去，一不一个脚印，自然会水到渠成的`。

一年，两年，三年，四年……此时的我已经四年级了，我再也不是那个胆小的小姑娘了。在20xx年10月17日的一堂科学课上，詹晓颖教师带领我们去实验室做实验。要明白，我这可是大姑娘上桥——头一回呀。在我的精心努力下，实验最终成功了！我的眼睛里流岀了激动的泪花。
