People in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the world＇s resources, its food, fuel and land, and cause the most pollution. A baby born in the United States will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the world＇s resources than a baby born in India. Unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population explosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land, food and fuel, and the future will bring poverty, misery and war to us all.
For most of the developing countries, it is a good idea to control the population growth. For example, China has carried out birth control for years. And this plan has a great effect on the world population.

DEMAND for graduates in the UK with skills related to sustai*lity is booming. Academia is waking up to the need to train specialists in green architecture, chemistry and engineering.
Dean Millar founded the world’s first ever BSc course in Renewable Energy at Exeter University after working as an industry consultant.
He said： “A lot of companies were complaining that there was a lack of bright young people suitably trained to work in the renewables business.”
Now his course has around 90 students learning the ins and outs of biomass, tidal, solar and offshore wind power.
Their career prospects are incredibly bright. Employment opportunities are not just limited to the energy sector, but segue into the regulatory and, increasingly, investment sectors as well.
“The big boys are moving in. The returns to be had are significant, especially in terms of wind development,” said Millar. “Financial firms need expertise across the board so they can make sensible investment decisions.”
Students on York University’s Master’s course in Green Chemistry are ideally placed to take advantage of the growing demand in industry for graduates with waste minimization skills.
Professor James Clark is founder of York’s Green Chemistry Centre for Excellence and the world’s leading green chemistry journal, Green Chemistry. He said： “We are now talking to producers of automobiles, electronics, furniture and pharmaceuticals, people who need to use chemistry but don’t think of themselves as chemists.”
As waste production legislation becomes increasingly strict, the traditional emphasis on making as much of a chemical as possible is shifting towards minimizing the waste that process creates. “A lot of chemicals are made from petroleum, but we are developing sustainable ways to make carbon, typically from biomass such as dead plants and trees,” said professor Clark.

A new institute is being built to meet the burgeoning demand for places and a distance learning facility will be launched next September so foreign students can complete CAT courses from home.

3月27日晚8：30，将举行“关灯一小时”活动。时针和分针很快就成了75度角，当时是8：30。我小心翼翼地踮着脚关掉了所有家用电器的电源。我想：才过了一个小时，关灯还是有希望的。是的，同学们，当沙尘暴袭击*，当地震和干旱的消息传来，当全球变暖加速，海*面持续上升，你心里会怎么想？答案只有一个：保护地球！也许有人会问：“不就是一个小时吗？有这么大的力量吗？”没错，一个人的一小时是微不足道的，可是6000个城市的十亿人民的一小时是强大的，正所谓团结力量大。在多本哈根气候大会上，做为有责任的*承担了减少二氧化碳的重任，这一切都要从身边的小事做起。

我认为，世界只可毁灭，不可拯救，当然现在我想这一观点似乎是错误的。因为一切我所看到的，正在地球上发生的事情，都表明情况还不是很糟糕，仍有很多人为拯救这个星球而奋斗。但很遗憾，这些奋斗中有相当一部分很可能将是徒劳的。
一方面，有些奋斗是粗浅，无知，甚至心不在焉、空走形式。
另一方面，毁灭世界似乎要比拯救世界容易得多。
就我个人而言，我宁可说自己是地球毁灭者，也不敢吹嘘自己曾为环保作过多大贡献。我认为，在这个人口已经成为极大多余的星球上，任何人的出生本就是对环境的潜在威胁。
成长，消费、制造垃圾，可以说我们每个人都对此世界欠下了一笔债，欠债还钱，理之固然。那么我们搞环保，就没有理由骄傲，只能说是在恶劣的`环境中痛苦太久之后的良心发现、大脑完善，摆脱了幼稚、野蛮、粗鲁之后，来偿还这笔债。
我并非宣扬所谓“人之初、性本恶”，但我们欠了债--事实如此，我们每个人都必须深刻地认识到这一点，才有可能放下花架子，少些沾沾自喜，真正把环保当成一种责任，严肃地环保，认真地环保，甚至泪流满面地去环保。这样，我们才不会一面高呼环保，一面把塑料袋随手扔在路边;或是把树苗从一个地方挖来，再随随便便埋到另一处，之后看着它慢慢枯死，痛苦死。
那么，我们的奋斗才不会是粗浅的、形式的，我们的奋斗才真正算是奋斗。
另一方面的问题是，拯救世界的努力到底能抵消多少毁灭的行为。也许“抵消”一词在此并不恰当，假使东北虎彻彻底底死干净了，那么这种毁灭将是不可抵消的，哪怕我们用百万条人命，也不大可能再从上帝手中换回一对虎亚当、虎夏娃。我说毁灭要比拯救容易得多，至少在人数上如此，为拯救而奋斗者毕竟只是一部分，而毁灭者却是全体。“毁灭”一词也许触目惊心了些，但事实上我们每个人都在为毁灭而效力。
我们要吃饭，于是大片森林草原被开垦为所谓良田，烧荒烧荒，越烧越荒，沙漠化就由此开始。我们每个人都要求生存的空间，于是我们的空间就越来越挤，越来越脏。
我们应当感到危机，拯救的努力在毁灭面前实在太脆弱了，几十甚至几百年长成的林木只要几把电锯就能剃得油光锃亮;而辛苦经营的美丽田园只要几枚导弹就炸成乱坟岗。毁灭的潜在欲望，我想很多人都有的，一旦膨胀起来，后果不堪设想--北约就是，至少它的行动有违环保!
惩罚毁灭者比拯救世界更伟大的意义就在于此。至少，可以使肆无忌惮的毁灭者毁灭，让他们胆寒，催人们觉醒，鼓我们斗志。这样，我们才能多些拯救，少些毁灭。
环保问题是天天谈了，咱们都懂，但我仍然感到悲哀。世界虽非不可拯救，但若我们没能真正认真起来，严肃起来，恐怕我们还得走下坡路，不过，我们仍有理由可以欣慰，就今天看来，我想，世界是不会毁灭的至少一百年内。

大家好！今天我演讲的题目是《水是不可替代的宝贵资源》。
人们常把地球比作一个蔚蓝色的星球，因为它表面积的71%被水覆盖。其实，地球上97。5%的水是咸水，只有2。5%是淡水。而在淡水中，将*70%冻结在南极和格陵兰水污染资料的冰盖中，其余的大部分是土壤中的水分或是深层地下水，难以供人类开采使用。江河、湖泊、水库及浅层地下水等来源的水比较容易为人类直接开采使用，但其数量不足世界淡水的1%，约占地球上全部水的0。007%。全球每年水资料降落在大陆上的降水量约为110万亿立方米，扣除大气蒸发和被植物吸收的水量，世界上江河径流量约为42。7万亿立方米，按1995年的世界人口计算，每人每年可获得的*均水量为7300立方米。由于世界人口不断增加，这一*均数已较1970年下降了37%。
由此可见，地球上可被利用的水并没有人类想象的那么多，如果让它们继续遭到人类的摧残，早晚有一天，它会消失的。如果我们再不珍惜水资源，最后一滴水将与血等价，这是大自然悲愤的呼喊。
海河、辽河、淮河、黄河、松花江、长江和珠江7大江河水系，均受到不同程度的污染。万里海疆形势也不容乐观，赤潮年年如期而至。在美丽的渤海湾，浊流迸溅，海面上漂浮的油污像一柄黑色火炬要烧毁海洋里的生命。
随着科学事业的逐渐发展，厂房高楼的逐渐增多，水短缺问题越来越严重。随着人类的破坏，原来的那个蔚蓝色的“水晶球”已经不再明澈，不再蔚蓝了，即将干枯。

动物——国际在线报道：中国，英国和澳洲等国家的14家研究机构预测，随着全球气温的变暖，大约50年之后将有18%至30%的动物物种面临灭绝的危机。动物是什么，动物是人类的朋友，动物与人类是相互依存的啊!我们吃的肉类不都是动物的吗?没有了动物，我们靠什么来补充肉类方面的营养，我知道有人会说，预测只是50年之后百分之十八至百分之三十的动物灭绝而已，可是想想，100年呢!或许100年之后还有动物可以和人类赖以生存，那么150年呢!200年呢!无法估量啊!
植物——经过各方面途径的调查，气候变暖正慢慢改变着我们的生活：冬天的时候，居民家里都有蚊子出没，各种各样的害虫都大量出现，影响着植物，我们深知，没了植物，人类会怎样，这么简单的问题，我想不说也知道!最严重的是冰川，因为气候的变暖，冰川逐渐融化，后果是非常严重的。冰川的加速融化致使大块冰体划落冰川湖， 冰川湖溃决引发水灾：由于喜马拉雅山的冰川退缩，1985年在尼泊尔的冰川湖溃决淹没了可耕用土地，冲毁了桥梁房屋和一座即将建成的水电站，造成了人员的伤亡和财产的损失。 因为变暖造成的伤害还有很多很多!

校园环境给我们带来了无穷的精神享受和无尽的快乐，这是我们的家。保护校园环境，是我们每位同学的责任，可是有的人却把这件事忘得九霄云外了。大家看这件一个画面，一位同学买了包零食，吃得津津有味，吃完以后，眼睛向四周看了看，呀！他吃完了的零食袋没了，呵！神奇吧！请大家再看地上，又多了一个哭泣的零食袋，它正在寻找垃圾箱，可是不断有人往它身上踩，没有人把它扔进垃圾箱中，那位同学还笑嘻嘻的，像为自己做得事很开心、很自豪一样。
这位同学扔掉的是一个食品袋，丢掉的却是一个少先队员讲卫生的*惯！保护校园环境，是我们共同的愿望，现在的我们，要保护校园环境，如果我们看到有人扔垃圾，就让我们帮助扔垃圾的人，让他以后不要继续随便乱扔垃圾。如果地上有垃圾，就让我们弯腰捡起垃圾，扔到垃圾箱中。如果

多么美妙的文学意境啊！可是，在如今的生活中恐怕这已经成为一种奢望了吧！其实，这也是一种必然的结果，大家自己想一想，不难发现，无知的人类——我们自己，无时无刻不在破坏着这个我们赖以生存的大自然！
郁郁葱葱的森林里，常常传来伐木的声音，因而森林中的绿色植被在一天天减少，大地露出的枯黄在一天天扩大，许多鸟儿没有了家；碧绿的湖水里常常有几根管子排放污水，因而碧绿的湖水变得墨绿油黑，连鱼儿也难逃厄运。因为人类随意毁坏大自然，所以地球妈妈病了。
到目前为止，威胁人类生存并已被人类认识到的环境问题主要有：全球变暖、臭氧层破坏、酸雨、淡水资源危机、能源短缺、森林资源锐减、土地荒漠化、物种加速灭绝、垃圾成灾、有毒的化学品污染等众多方面，这些问题都会给人类社会发展带来难以预料的影响，所以我们现在要做的就是保护好我们赖以生存的大自然。
讲到保护环境，方法有很多，总的'来说有：治理工业污染、重点区域水土流失的治理、扩大自然保护区建设规模等。小的方面来说可以是节约用水，节约用电等等。其实，这些都是生活中零碎的小事，也是我们必须做到的。俗话说：“人心齐，泰山移。”众人团结起来的力量是十分强大，每人节约一滴水，这些水足以填满200个西湖；每人节约一张纸，可能就能挽救整片森林；每人少摘一朵，就能多一大片绿地······
一片绿地荒了，人们可以搬到另外一片绿地上，可是世界荒了，人们可以搬到哪儿去呢？所以让我们大家一起行动起来，保护我们唯一而又伟大的地球母亲吧！

动物——国际在线报道：中国，英国和澳洲等国家的14家研究机构预测，随着全球气温的变暖，大约50年之后将有18%至30%的动物物种面临灭绝的危机。动物是什么，动物是人类的朋友，动物与人类是相互依存的`啊!我们吃的肉类不都是动物的吗?没有了动物，我们靠什么来补充肉类方面的营养，我知道有人会说，预测只是50年之后百分之十八至百分之三十的动物灭绝而已，可是想想，100年呢!或许100年之后还有动物可以和人类赖以生存，那么150年呢!200年呢!无法估量啊!
植物——经过各方面途径的调查，气候变暖正慢慢改变着我们的生活：冬天的时候，居民家里都有蚊子出没，各种各样的害虫都大量出现，影响着植物，我们深知，没了植物，人类会怎样，这么简单的问题，我想不说也知道!最严重的是冰川，因为气候的变暖，冰川逐渐融化，后果是非常严重的。冰川的加速融化致使大块冰体划落冰川湖， 冰川湖溃决引发水灾：由于喜马拉雅山的冰川退缩，1985年在尼泊尔的冰川湖溃决淹没了可耕用土地，冲毁了桥梁房屋和一座即将建成的水电站，造成了人员的伤亡和财产的损失。 因为变暖造成的伤害还有很多很多!
说到这里，大家一定认为我说的太遥远，不现实，错!大家不要这样想，而是想想是什么造成的气温变暖?是二氧化碳的增多!为什么二氧化碳会增多?是人类造成的，主要原因是人类大量的燃烧矿物燃料，是绿色植被变少，吸收二氧化碳能力变差，从而造成了二氧化碳的增多，产生了厄尔尼诺现象，导致了全球气温变暖!想必大家听到这里已经有所感悟了，住手吧!不要再污染环境了，不需要大贡献，只要每人少用一个一次性纸杯，纸碗，筷子，草稿纸反复使用都可以减少植被的损害!觉醒吧!我呼吁，保护环境，从身边做起，从小事做起!播下一颗环保的种子，创造一片蔚蓝的天空! 我的演讲完毕! 谢谢大家!

大家好！今天我演讲的题目是《水是不可替代的宝贵资源》。
人们常把地球比作一个蔚蓝色的星球，因为它表面积的71%被水覆盖。其实，地球上97。5%的水是咸水，只有2。5%是淡水。而在淡水中，将*70%冻结在南极和格陵兰水污染资料的冰盖中，其余的大部分是土壤中的水分或是深层地下水，难以供人类开采使用。江河、湖泊、水库及浅层地下水等来源的水比较容易为人类直接开采使用，但其数量不足世界淡水的1%，约占地球上全部水的0。007%。全球每年水资料降落在大陆上的降水量约为110万亿立方米，扣除大气蒸发和被植物吸收的水量，世界上江河径流量约为42。7万亿立方米，按1995年的世界人口计算，每人每年可获得的*均水量为7300立方米。由于世界人口不断增加，这一*均数已较1970年下降了37%。
由此可见，地球上可被利用的`水并没有人类想象的那么多，如果让它们继续遭到人类的摧残，早晚有一天，它会消失的。如果我们再不珍惜水资源，最后一滴水将与血等价，这是大自然悲愤的呼喊。
海河、辽河、淮河、黄河、松花江、长江和珠江7大江河水系，均受到不同程度的污染。万里海疆形势也不容乐观，赤潮年年如期而至。在美丽的渤海湾，浊流迸溅，海面上漂浮的油污像一柄黑色火炬要烧毁海洋里的生命。
随着科学事业的逐渐发展，厂房高楼的逐渐增多，水短缺问题越来越严重。随着人类的破坏，原来的那个蔚蓝色的“水晶球”已经不再明澈，不再蔚蓝了，即将干枯。
水是地球生物赖以存在的物质基础，水资源是维系地球生态环境可持续发展的首要条件，因此，保护水资源是人类最伟大、最神圣的天职。

现在，全球环境问题越来越严重，目前世界上：1/3的哺乳动物面临灭绝、20%的淡水鱼面临灭绝、9%的树种面临灭绝、50%的珊瑚礁退化、80%的原始森林遭到破坏、20%的人口难以获得安全饮用水。预计，到20xx年全球2/3的人口将面临供水紧张。在新的世纪里环境问题将更加突出，能否实现人类与环境的协调发展，我们每一个生活在21世纪的青少年都有责任和义务为之做出自己的努力！

一方面，有些奋斗是粗浅，无知，甚至心不在焉、空走形式。

就我个人而言，我宁可说自己是地球毁灭者，也不敢吹嘘自己曾为环保作过多大贡献。我认为，在这个人口已经成为极大多余的星球上，任何人的出生本就是对环境的潜在威胁。
成长，消费、制造垃圾，可以说我们每个人都对此世界欠下了一笔债，欠债还钱，理之固然。那么我们搞环保，就没有理由骄傲，只能说是在恶劣的环境中痛苦太久之后的良心发现、大脑完善，摆脱了幼稚、野蛮、粗鲁之后，来偿还这笔债。
我并非宣扬所谓“人之初、性本恶”，但我们欠了债--事实如此，我们每个人都必须深刻地认识到这一点，才有可能放下花架子，少些沾沾自喜，真正把环保当成一种责任，严肃地环保，认真地环保，甚至泪流满面地去环保。这样，我们才不会一面高呼环保，一面把塑料袋随手扔在路边;或是把树苗从一个地方挖来，再随随便便埋到另一处，之后看着它慢慢枯死，痛苦死。
那么，我们的奋斗才不会是粗浅的、形式的，我们的奋斗才真正算是奋斗。
另一方面的问题是，拯救世界的努力到底能抵消多少毁灭的行为。也许“抵消”一词在此并不恰当，假使东北虎彻彻底底死干净了，那么这种毁灭将是不可抵消的，哪怕我们用百万条人命，也不大可能再从上帝手中换回一对虎亚当、虎夏娃。我说毁灭要比拯救容易得多，至少在人数上如此，为拯救而奋斗者毕竟只是一部分，而毁灭者却是全体。“毁灭”一词也许触目惊心了些，但事实上我们每个人都在为毁灭而效力。
我们要吃饭，于是大片森林草原被开垦为所谓良田，烧荒烧荒，越烧越荒，沙漠化就由此开始。我们每个人都要求生存的空间，于是我们的空间就越来越挤，越来越脏。

What does overpopulation feel like? When we move slowly through the city in a tazi. When we enter a crowded slum district. When the temperature is high and when the air is thick with dust and smoke. The streets are crowded with people. The streets seem alive with people. People eating. People washing. People talking. People sleeping. People visiting each other, arguing and screaming. People relieving themselves. People pushing their hands through the taxi windows, begging. People leading animals. People, people, people, people. As we drive slowly through the crowd, sounding the taxi's horn, the dust, heat, noise and cooking fires made it like a scene from hell! I admit, frightening.
To the nature, overpopulation is a big problem. More people, more pollution. And the big population is threatening the nature every second.
The rapid rise in world population is not creating problems only for the developing countries. The whole world faces the problem that raw materials are being used up at an increasing rate and food production can not keep up with the population increase. People in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the world's resources, its food, fuel and land, and cause the most pollution. A baby born in the United States will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the world's resources than a baby born in India. Unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population explosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land, food and fuel, and the future will bring poverty, misery and war to us all.
For most of the developing countries, it is a good idea to control the population growth. For example, China has carried out birth control for years. And this plan has a great effect on the world population.
If the population continues to increase, if the air and water continue to be polluted, if we don't do something to protect wild-plant and wildlife species will be declining. Species and biological communities have difficulty adapting to change. Economic opportunities and the quality of life of future generations are also put at risk. By protecting nature, we protect ourselves.

Now,In the world，Many students began to do something for our world. They join environment clubs. In the club,People work together to make our environment clean. They bring their lunches in bags that can be used again. Every week they choose the classes that make the least garbage and report them to the whole school. They also come to school in no-car days. I know I’m only a primary student,but I can do something too. I will do something to help save water,when I take shows,I will collect the used water with a basin and later flush toilets with it. Nature--Overpopulation
What is nature? It's everything that exists in the world independently of people, such as pants and animals, earth and rocks, and the weather.
Now more and more people are focusing on the nature. It is no doubt that the nature is important to every human being. No nature, no life. Because of the supplies of the nature, we have lived happily for a long time. And we started to gain every thing available from the nature. And this lasted so long a time. Today, people have discovered that the nature around is getting worse and worse.
What is threatening the nature? Air and water pollution, overharvesting of plant and animal species, overpopulation and so on. Overpopulation is the biggest source of pollution. Let's take overpopulation as an example.
What does overpopulation feel like? When we move slowly through the city in a tazi. When we enter a crowded slum district. When the temperature is high and when the air is thick with dust and smoke. The streets are crowded with people. The streets seem alive with people. People eating. People washing. People talking. People sleeping. People visiting each other, arguing and screaming. People relieving themselves. People pushing their hands through the taxi windows, begging. People leading animals. People, people, people, people. As we drive slowly through the crowd, sounding the taxi's horn, the dust, heat, noise and cooking fires made it like a scene from hell! I admit, frightening.
To the nature, overpopulation is a big problem. More people, more pollution. And the big population is threatening the nature every second.
The rapid rise in world population is not creating problems only for the developing countries. The whole world faces the problem that raw materials are being used up at an increasing rate and food production can not keep up with the population increase. People in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the world's resources, its food, fuel and land, and cause the most pollution. A baby born in the United States will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the world's resources than a baby born in India. Unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population explosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land, food and fuel, and the future will bring poverty, misery and war to us all.
For most of the developing countries, it is a good idea to control the population growth. For example, China has carried out birth control for years. And this plan has a great effect on the world population.
If the population continues to increase, if the air and water continue to be polluted, if we don't do something to protect wild-plant and wildlife species will be declining. Species and biological communities have difficulty adapting to change. Economic opportunities and the quality of life of future generations are also put at risk. By protecting nature, we protect ourselves.

Many people are active in fighting against unfair treatment to coloredpeople, women , animals and so on. Right now I am talking about fighting forrespect to our environment.
