A FISHERMAN skilled in music took his flute and his nets to the seashore. Standing on a projecting rock, he played several tunes in the hope that the fish, attracted by his melody, would of their own accord dance into his net, which he had placed below. At last, having long waited in vain, he laid aside his flute, and casting his net into the sea, made an excellent haul of fish. When he saw them leaping about in the net upon the rock he said: "O you most perverse creatures, when I piped you would not dance, but now that I have ceased you do so merrily."

学*英语无捷径。要想学好英语只有大量实践，多听多读，多说，多写。不要被子商业广告所误导。
1、注重课堂学*：

开始时可跟录音读，保证发音正确。因为许多同学听力差并不是因为掌握的语言知识不够，而是听到的正确的语音与自己所说熟悉的不正确的读音不能联系起来，因此影响了理解。
3、阅读训练：
阅读应该是高中三年中最应重视的部分了。因为它是培养英语语感，巩固和熟悉所学知识的最有效途径。因此，课外阅读时可采用半精读与泛读的方式。
半精读：选长短适中，有一定生词的原文材料或某一种教材。要持之以恒。要记住，用一本教科书学英语是绝对不够的。
泛读：自助餐及书报杂志。读不同题材、体裁的文章，理解跨学科知识。读时注意对运用精妙的词汇，短语或句子做些摘抄。

爸爸在外地工作，是个工程师，在家的时间很少，每次回来我总觉得爸爸一点也不像个工程师，扮起医生来却有板有眼，时不时地帮我“检查检查”，“拍拍X光片”，再帮我“开几副药”，来对症治疗我的毛病。
病历一：我总是在吃饭的时大声嚷嚷：“这个太咸了！那个太酸了……”一点也不把爷爷奶奶忙活了半天做出来的晚餐放在眼里，不知道他们的辛苦。
爸爸的药方：有一天，爸爸突然让我做菜，我本不想，可看着爸爸那严肃的表情，只好硬着头皮上了。等我做好时，发现饭糊的糊，焦的焦，味道就别提了。这就是老爸的“药方”，实践才能知道别人的辛苦。
病历二：看着别人直排轮滑滑的那么好，我也经不住诱惑，到溜冰场里溜了起来，可还没滑几步就跌倒了了。几次下来，我不禁失去了信心。

还有一次，妈妈刚从彩虹鱼绘本馆给我借来书，放学回家，我就立即看了起来，妈妈说：“写完作业再看！”我不听，还是在那儿看，妈妈又严厉地重复了一遍，我才放下书去写作业。我写完作业 又开始看起来，这时妈妈又生气地说：“你看你做错了多少！”我明白了，原来我太想看书，着急写作业，所以把作业都做错了！妈妈把书给我没收了，罚我改完作业才能看书。唉，下次可不敢再犯了 ，一定要专心做好每一件事。

When my parents went to see Teresa Heinz Kerry speak, they told me that she was amazing! -- and that they thought John Kerry would make a great President. I decided to find out more about John Kerry. I talk about what I learned by using my ABCs.
“A” is America. John Kerry is a hero to America, and he will help our futures. He is a great and positive role model.
“B” is Better education. John Kerry wants to make class sizes smaller, so that children get the best part out of learning. He wants to help teachers because being a teacher is educating children, and letting them out into the world to do good things.
“C” is Compassion towards children. John Kerry wants to make sure that health care is not a privilege, but it is something that we can all afford.
This summer, I was supposed to go to my favorite camp. But instead, I decided to go to the John Kerry office every day. Kids can really help!
On KidsforKerry.org, we have an interactive presidential quiz. There are 270 questions for the electoral votes John Kerry will win. Plus, 25 questions to make up for Florida from the last election.
Our next goal is to have a petition for “National No Name-Calling Day,” a day that the candidates don't say anything negative about one another. When our Vice President had a disagreement with a Democratic senator, he used a REALLY BAD word.
