I feel so happy to have the chance to make a speech. The title of my speechis Protect the Environment, Protect Ourselves. I hope you will like it.
Everybody knows waste paper and used coke cans are discarded everywhere.You might have seen plastic bags flying in the sky and getting caught in thetrees when the wind blows or maybe you have seen old cans floating in the riversand polluting the water. Our environment is the place in which we live, but itis being ruined by us.
There is a story about house and trees. It is said that a man's house wassurrounded by a lot of trees. Though the wind was strong, that man could have agood rest under the trees. How comfortable the life was! One day, that manwanted to enlarge his house, so he cut down all the trees. Then the autumn camewithout the protection. The strong wind blew the roof of the house into the sky.The whole house was gone with the wind. What a pity! But that's the price peoplehave to pay for destroying in the ecology balance. People shouldn't beshort-sighted. Protecting the environment is everyone's task.
The rapid rise in world population is not creating problems only for the developing countries. The whole world faces the problem that raw materials are being used up at an increasing rate and food production can not keep up with the population increase. People in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the world's resources, its food, fuel and land, and cause the most pollution. A baby born in the United States will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the world's resources than a baby born in India. Unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population explosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land, food and fuel, and the future will bring poverty, misery and war to us all. For most of the developing countries, it is a good idea to control the population growth. For example, China has carried out birth control for years. And this plan has a great effect on the world population. If the population continues to increase, if the air and water continue to be polluted, if we don't do something to protect wild-plant and wildlife species will be declining. Species and biological communities have difficulty adapting to change. Economic opportunities and the quality of life of future generations are also put at risk. By protecting nature, we protect ourselves.
When we feel the warmth of the sun, these people, endure great sorrows and pains. Can we imagine that? They are our brother and sisters! Facing them, will we still complain about our own misfortune? Facing them, will we still have the mood shouting for our own freedom? Facing them, will we still want to have more and more unnecessary stuff? They are unable to meet their needs, even the basic needs of survival! Everyone, as a member of humanity, shouldn't feel ashamed? Our luxury deprived their lives, our indifference violated our soul, and our barbarity destroyed human civilization! What's the ideal society? It's a society no one worries about their living, a society no one is refused from education, a society everyone can pursue his/her own happiness! The ideal society is filled with love, joy and kindness. In that society, we can touch the other's hearts, we can share our dreams and most important, we can just be the true men! Let's break the ethnic divide, bridge the gap between rich and poor, hand in hand, to build a Great wall, protecting us from evil; to construct a steady bridge, connecting reality to the ideal society! Let's pursue for that, that's the only way to the bright future! They are watching us! Thank you!

i can still remember the first time i failed in a singing contest. i immediately ran to my grandma, shedding lots of tears of course! i cried loudly and could hardly utter a word! then, badly needed comforting words and touch came from grandma. i gradually regained my sense of pride and a sensible control of my feelings. yet, head down, i said: “grandma, i have no choice, and i have to give up, right?” “look at me, my dear!”she said gently. i looked up, straight into her eyes. what i saw was a shining, sweet, and loving stream from the bottom of her heart! then, there came the gentle voice of hers: “no, no, no…” her head shaking, while eyes smiling. “why don't you give more attention to the details?” she continued.
no other words were needed any more! i started practicing and rehearsing once again, paying special attention to those little things that i used to ignore. as a consequence, my overall performance was quickly elevated to a new high! without much trouble, in another singing contest held months later, i won! what do i learn from this experience? never give up lightly! life's full of opportunities, and lots of them! to realize your dreams and fulfill your potential, you must learn to work hard and smart and steer your lifeboat wisely! as a li ling's sportswear commercial goes “everything is possible!” but not without sweat, devotion, and tears sometimes!

The City Mouse and the Country Mouse
Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country; the other mouse lived in the city. After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, "Do come and see me at my house in the country." So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, "This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. 周末一向在网上忙事情，几乎没什么时间去看书。只能在晚上挤时间做作业。回想起小时候教师总说的那句话：“一寸光阴一寸金，寸金难买寸光阴。”此刻是有深切的体会了。
小学仅有几科科目，完全能够应付过来。但到了初中，要学*的科目一下子翻了一番。可能因为科目的增多，环境的改变，感觉自我越来越难以适应初中教师的教学方法。刚开始还能够跟上教师的'讲课速度，但因为该背的没背，该做的没做。到之后就听的很渺茫，有点茫茫然的感觉。所以，随之而来的就是上课画画，偷看漫画书等种种恶*。到了期末考试就考的头昏脑胀。

今天我讲话的主题是：节约资源、保护环境、做保护地球小主人!
我们曾这样歌颂过我们的祖国：地大物博，山河壮丽。但是你可知道，我国是当今世界上的发展中国家，人口数量极为庞大，人均资源量偏低。
举个例子，我国淡水资源总量为28000亿立方米，占全球水源的6%，这本来就不富有，除以13亿后，我国人均淡水资源更是少得可怜，仅2200立方米，为世界*均水*的1/4，是美国的1/5。
广袤的森林被称为“地球之肺”，我国的森林面积在全国土地面积中的比例，排在世界第120位之后，而且现在森林仍以每年1800万到xx万公顷的速度在减少。森林的减少，使气候变坏，气温升高，水土流失严重，给人类造成无穷的灾害。1998年的百年罕见洪水就曾带给我们惨痛的灾难!

那时当我来到桥上，往下俯视小河的时候，那条小河真的非常非常地清澈，清澈见底啊，而且水是很深的。水中有无数的小鱼在游动，也有时出现一条大鱼，在小鱼群中穿梭，将小鱼群都打散了。水面上长着非常多的植物，在小动物的衬托下，更是美丽极了。河边时不时地有人将买来的小鱼小虾小乌龟放进河里，这些小动物进入了河中，好快活地游着，还看看那些将它们放生的人，好象是在表示感谢一样。河边，有非常多的树木，其中最多的是柳树。记得当时我还跑到河边，去拔柳树枝，拔下来后将枝插入土中，希望它能生长，因为无心插柳柳成阴嘛。当时插了多少枝我也忘了，反正非常地多。我妈妈叫我回旅馆时，我念念不舍地看着小河，小动物和柳枝，依依不舍地走了……
现在我又来到了上海，这次是般过来住了，我爸爸妈妈在上海找到了工作。
其实我来到上海定居的时候早就忘了小时候来过上海，当我无意中和爸爸妈妈散步的时候走到了那座桥上，让我想起了过去。
我回到家里，想着今天看到的小河到底是不是以前的小河了，不是了，根本不是！！
我往下俯视着小河，根本看不到底，并不是因为水位升高了，而是水变黑了。水变黑了，再也看不到小鱼，小虾，小乌龟了，但是我相信并不是看不到了，而是根本没有，这么脏的水，怎么可能能容小动物生存呢？？我真希望小动物全都搬了家，但是事实是残酷的，因为我看到水面上时不时地浮出了小鱼的尸体……不仅有尸体，还有各种各样的垃圾，甚至还有电池！河边再也看不到人们放生小动物了，却只能看到人们往河里扔垃圾，河边的土地上也竟是垃圾，我真希望将那些人扔进河里，让他们也尝尝滋味。想到这里，我突然想到了我以前种的柳树……我急急忙忙穿上鞋跑了出去，一直跑到河边，那里早就没有了柳树，建了栅栏和房屋，什么植物也没了。我走过去仔细地找了找，却只能找到几枝被踩扁的柳枝，和几片柳树的叶子，其它什么都没了。我又俯视着小河，还发现了一个奇怪的现象，河里既然已经没有鱼了，怎么还会有气泡冒出来呢？我又急急忙忙跑回家，打开电脑查了些资料，说是河里没鱼却冒泡是因为沼气的缘故，河水被污染了，河底沉淀了很多地淤泥，淤泥会冒出来一个一个的气泡，气泡中却全是沼气.
哎。怎么会这样？我就几年没来，上海就成了这样了？光从小河的角度就看出来了，上海的环境保护工作做得还是不够啊，感觉上海的人们好象不重视环保似地，随意地扔垃圾和电池，真的是太不象话了呀，我真应该捞几桶臭水，往环保局的门前泼，让他们也尝尝这种臭位，我也应该告诉人们，你们就是你们自己扔下的垃圾！

2、绿色消费、环保选择。使用环保电池，减少洗涤剂中的化学物质对水的污染，认准绿色食品标志，选购环保食品。
3、讲究卫生、保护环境。制止乱贴乱画、乱停乱放等不文明行为。不乱扔垃圾，正确处理好废弃物，对生活垃圾进行分类处理。
