General Introduction
I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China. With tremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I am writing to ap*** for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.
Education background
In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission test.
At the period of my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5% in the department. In the second semester, I became teacher assistant that is given to talented and matured students only. This year, I won the Acer Scholarship as the one and only candidate in my department, which is the ultimate accolade for distinguished students endowed by my university. Presently, I am preparing my graduation thesis and trying for the honor of Excellent Graduation Thesis.
Research experience and academic activity
When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation sche***ng system. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage ***ysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant. This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.
In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests include: Network Sche***ng Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Sup*** chain network research, Hybrid system performance ***ysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.
Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is the most important festivity for the Chinese people. It is also called the Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year.
Every year has an animal’s name. These animals are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. A Chinese legend says that these twelve animals had a race. The first year was named after the rat, the winner. The other eleven years were named after the order in which the animals arrived in the race. The clever rat jumped onto the ox’s back then at the end jumped over the ox’s head to arrive first!
The Chinese believe that a person born in a particular year has some of the characteristics of animal.
On Chinese New Year’s Eve all family members enjoy a big, delicious meal. It is very important for the Chinese to be with their families on this occasion. Fish is always part of the dinner because it represents abundance.
On New Year’s Day all Chinese children wear new clothes with bright colors. Red is considered a lucky color. Parents and relatives give children the traditional New Year’s gift called lucky money. This money is put into bright red and gold envelopes. Fill under the pillow. in the morning of new year , the kid wakes up to see the “lucky money”, exprethat oneself become one year older. Red is a traditional color for festivals, celebrations, weddings and birthdays.
The lion dancers are always part of the festivities. The lion has a big head and long body made of cloth. The lion dance is accompanied by drums, cymbals and noisy firecrackers. According to ancient traditions the great noise frightens away evil spirits.

Due to the game, Murray's foot had blisters that affected the way he played. The doctor had to treat his wound with medicine. As human beings, if we had blisters on our foot, we may feel a lot of pain and don't want to walk. However, as an athlete, Murray had to withstand the pain and strive for the victory.

As students, studying is a part of our life.I know we may be confronted with many different kinds of problems,have you ever wangted to give it up? after choosing my place,i will procede to search some information about hotels.there are some hotels i can choose.youth hotel,localguesthouse,hanting express and home inns.generally,i will reserve a dormitory at youth hotel.then,ineed to learn about hotel’s position ,price,internetservice,bath facilities and curfew.not all the hotels have online service,but you can call the reception dest for reservation.
next,i should choose the traffic and make my routes.book a round-trip train ticket online.google the map and search for which bus i will take.then make a detailed routes.write these primary information on a memo.
at last,i will need to pack some of my essential things.under clothes and socks.be sure to get my id card,bankcard,studentcard,some change and several coins for bus in my wallet.and a smart phone,i think ,will be helpful,no matter searching information or calling for help.my camera,and don’t forget chargers and mobile power.besides,i will take a bottle of water andinstantnoodles,a knife and a lithger with me.

I went Chong Qing in July 22.It is a city which was built near mountains.
So people call it Mountain City. In Chong Qing,I went to the Red Stone Center, to see the places which the prisoners lived in the past. It is a terrible and awful trip. 英语短文阅读的重要性不仅表现在高中英语考试中它的份量最大，而且还表现在英语短文是英语词汇知识和语法知识的载体方面。词汇量的扩大、词汇知识的丰富和句子表达的多样性光靠死记硬背是无法也不可能实现的。扩大词汇量、丰富自己的词汇知识和地道完美的表达自己只有依靠优良的阅读*惯。教材课文是精读材料，需要同学们读熟读透，直至能开口娓娓道来为止。课外阅读又叫泛读。高中英语新课标教材对高中前八个模块的`学*有一个要求：课外阅读要完成30万单词的阅读量。也就是说：同学们需要每天有500到700个单词量的阅读。课外阅读也是运用语言的一种必不可少的形式。课外阅读不能停留在完成几道阅读理解试题或者完形填空试题。关键在尽量弄懂文章中的每一句话含义、长难句的结构。留意你还不很熟悉的词汇、词汇知识和语法知识。还要去认真体会不同的英语句子在表达上的精确性。千万不要在一些你还不认识的，拼写怪诞，发音困难的生僻词汇上浪费时间和精力。

任何一门学科都需要踏实的学*作风。外语也不例外。学外语的实主要表现在以下几个方面：
一、落实词汇、词汇知识和特殊句式的积累。落实词汇和词汇知识并不是反复背记词汇表中的单词。落实词汇、词汇知识以及特殊句式的最好办法是先探究后运用。一个词汇在经过七到八次在不同时间和不同的语境中运用后，它就是你的了。词汇知识和特殊句式也是一样。写作是运用，造句是运用，阅读，倾听和与他人用英语交流也是运用。借助词典进行造句练*，在造句中运用新学的词汇不失为一种行之有效的简单易行的方式。

四、落实课内课外书面作业。简单的完成老师布置的作业量并不是落实。书面作业质的落实必须是在真正懂了、记住了的基础上又快又好的独立的、闭卷式的完成书面作业。对发现的漏洞和缺陷要采取补救措施。
五、落实自主探究的学*能力培养。学*中缺乏自主探究，不善于利用团队合作和与老师沟通是很多高中生在学*中存在的一种普遍想象。老师不是保姆，老师不可能把英语的词汇知识和英语的四大能力烹制成一道道佳肴后，一口一口地喂进学生的口中。老师的探究代替不了学生的探究。学*能力的培养主要是探究能力的培养。学会了探究，你才会在知识的大海中畅游。学会了探究，你才会成为终身学*者。英语学科的探究应该表现在对某一特定词汇在文中、在句中的用法和含义的探究，对长难句结构和含义的探究，对相关知识关联的探究，对作者意图、主题大意的探究，当然也包含对学法的探究。要探究知识，要有工具（词典以及各种手册等）的帮助，更要有团队的合作，还要有老师的帮助。团队合作可以让你取他人之长补自己之短，还可以集思广益，产生思想火花。常与老师沟通是可以使你更容易发现前进的方向，少走弯路。

Beggars are one of the most familiar groups in every city. They accompany us from our childhood until now, and I've found both the beggars and I change in this journey.
Years ago as a little girl, when I came across some old and disabled beggars on the road, I'd donate some pocket money to them, happily thinking I was helping.
s I have grown older, I've found the number of beggars has grown larger and they are more diverse. They appear in every corner of the city, on the overbridge, on the street, near restaurants, and even at your door. In contrast with the old days, it seems like the situation with beggars today is more complicated, which has made me hesitate before deciding whether to help them or not.
It's hard for me to give them money considering some who appear beggars in day time but dress up and go to fancy restaurants at night; and some who are controlled by some illegal organization and the money they get all goes to the organization. If I help them, I'd be making the problem worse, I'd be doing harm to the society, indirectly. But it's also hard not to give them money, considering there're real beggars who really need help. If I don't help them, who will? And where is my sympathy?
What hurts me the most is not how hard it is to distinguish the real help-seekers from the many false ones, but that some children are forced by adults, sometimes even their parents, to beg. They grow up despised by the world, out of mainstream society. When I see their eyes filled with desperation and impudence instead of purity and innocence, my heart sinks. We don't know how they will face the world when they grow up, how this will shape their characters, and what they may do to the society, to perpetuate this cycle of violence.
Months ago the Fu Jian government has promulgated a new policy to deal with 8 kinds of beggars. An internet survey shows that over 80% of voters reacted positively toward the policy. i’m studying in a city that’s famous for its walls. people who visit my city are amazed at the imposing sight of its walls, especially when silhouetted against the setting sun with gold, shining streaks. the old, cracked bricks are covered with lichens and the walls are weather-beaten guards standing still for centuries.
our ancestors liked to build walls. they built walls in beijing, xi’an, nanjing and many other cities, and they built the great wall, which snakes across half our country. they built walls to protect against enemies and evil spirits. this tradition has survived to this day: we still have many parks and schools walled off from the public.
for a long time, walls were one of the most natural things in the world to me.
my perceptions, however, changed after i made a hiking trip to the eastern suburbs of my city. my classmates and i were walking with some foreign students. as we walked out of the city, we found ourselves flanked by tall trees, which formed a wide canopy above our heads. suddenly one foreign student asked me, “where is the entrance to the eastern suburbs?”

My understanding of dreams.
Good morning, its my honor to stand here and give you this speech about dreams. There I want to start my speech with two short stories.
