Dear Sir/Madam,

MS. XXX requested a letter of reference from me to support her application for graduate studies at your university. As her research adviser when she was a graduate student in my school of science Beijing University of Chemical Technology, I am pleased to com*** with her request.

( UI have known Ms. Zhang since 2003, when she was admitted as a Master of Science candidate into the school. As her research adviser, I directed her research and found her a promising youth radiating with intelligence and creativity. During her first year, she got a very good record in major courses and earnd good scores major and general GPA 3.3. She particularly enjoyed challenging areas of studies such as Quantum Chemistry and Theory of Electrochemistry.

During the following two years, Ms. Zhang worked on a computational theory study of inorganic functional materials project for his degree thesis “Theoretical Study of Electronic Structures of Several Representative Metal Element in the Hydrotalcite Slabs”. To make the theory model meet the actual materials, she faced down many practical problems, such as building reasonable module of inorganic materials, and calculation techniques. Working hard and independently, she cracked the problems one by one, and came up with a thesis that was characterized by academic excellence. During her M.S. period, she had three papers published in international journals.

Judging by her outstanding performance while she studied with me, I am convinced that Ms. Zhang has acquired the knowledge and intellectual sophistication on the basis of which she can undertake world-class training. I therefore lend her my enthusiastic support and would appreciate your favorable consideration of her application.

  Dear Colleagues:

As a teacher in Department of Biology, Nankai University, a leading university in China, I am very pleased to take this opportunity to recommend one of my favorite students to your PhD program.

In September, 2004, Miss Zhang was my students in General Biology, the first professional course they take in the field. She likes it very much. I teach her in an open and interactive manner, she is active and passionate about answering class questions. Miss Zhang is bright, energetic and enthusiastic girl who loves speaking out her own ideas. She never escapes from those points of which she is skeptical. Apart from that, she often puts forward her ideas upon questions and exchanges all of her innovate ideas with me after class.

Upon ending of General Biology course, I asked my students to write an essay upon their understanding of biology. I discovered Miss Zhang’s essay was so impressive and persuasive; her careful essay comes from dozens of references to Biology literatures. In essay Miss Zhang stretched out her creative thinking upon status quo of biological research and branches in the field of biology. All of this speaks to her creative and logical and scientific thinking capability. I am gladly to say that Miss Zhang has a clear understanding about General Biology, that comprehension has been reflected fully in her essay. Therefore Miss Zhang got a full point for her essay in her class, and other students took it as model essay for granted.

I believe Miss Zhang’s industriousness, passion and dedication will make her an ideal candidate you are seeking for your program, so I highly recommend her without any hesitation to you. And I will greatly appreciate it if you could accept her into your program.

  Sincerely yours,

  Prof. xxx

I am writing this letter of recommendation for Mr.Caleb,my former student. I have known Mr. Caleb for more than 6 years since his freshman year at "University of Minnesota". At that time,he took the course-- "Mathematical Analysis," which I taught mainly for junior students majoring in Mathematics.

To my surprise,I found he was among the few students in his class who could keep up with the pace of my lectures. Moreover,he often posed thought-provoking questions during the course. Thus it was natural that I liked discussing with this young man and became familiar with him. The more I knew him, the more I found he was talented at mathematics. As you can see,he got excellent scores on the course.

In fact,he ranked No. 1 on this 270 hours course in the talented student class which has 34 intelligent others. With his outstanding talent and solid mathematical background,he also did quite well in most other courses during his undergraduate study. By the way,you may wonder why his undergraduate scores look not so good compared to other Chinese applicants. It is easy to explain, because he belonged to the talented student class, which were required to endure harder test papers and stricter grading than most other college students did at least at "University of Minnesota". He even served as Prof. Linda s Research Assistant for one year. No one could deny his commitment to his job.

As a matter of fact,Prof. Linda s electronic lab happened to be neighboring my office and I could always see him working in the lab, either repairing the instruments or helping Prof. Linda collect lab reports. Maybe one more example will demonstrate his commitment more clearly. Once he suggested compiling a FORTRAN program to solve a complicated circuit problem in his class. In order to do that,he had to do a lot of computer work. However, because there were few computers available in our computer lab,he had to wake up at 5 a.m. in winter (please note: "Twin city" is a downtown near the north border of China,so it is pretty cold in winter and the heating system is not working very well.) to ensure the 1st position of the long waiting line for his classmates and himself! At last he and his classmates finished the program successfully with his great efforts.

As to his personality,I would like to say Mr. Caleb is a warm-hearted, honest and upright student. He was always ready to help others. During my lectures, many students got confused at some points and I could always see Mr. Caleb help them explain during breaks. In the meanwhile,I must admit that Mr. Caleb was a bit impatient sometimes.

Finally,I would like to conclude my recommendation as follows: frankly,Mr. Caleb is not a genius, but I promise his great intelligence, commitment to work and his kind nature will impress you dee***. Thus I recommend him without reservation for his admission and financial aid to your program. Please feel free to contact me if needed.

  Sincerely Yours,

  Dear Admission Officer,

As Miss##### course instructor in Com*r Information Networks, Com*r Application System and Digital Library & Technology ever since September, 2010 during her undergraduate period in Northwest University, I know very well her academic competence and overall expertise; therefore, I take it my pleasure to present you this letter furnishing my commendation on her.

Miss Zhang preliminarily attested to her excellence in information retrieval, ***ysis, integration and com*r application in October, 2011, when she assisted me in the network information survey of ‘The Application Status of Mobile Library in China’. As far as I know, she spent a whole week collecting data of mobile library application status of 23 provinces, 4 direct-controlled municipalities, 2 special administrative regions and 5 autonomous regions across the country through the Internet and listed relevant information according to the theory of balanced score card. In her later paper ‘The Practical Significance of Consociation of Traditional Digital Library and Mobile Library—Exemplified by the TWIMS System of Tsinghua University’ published on Library and Information Service, comparison was made from angles of both time and space. Her discourse about the insufficiency in mobile library development in China as well as corresponding solutions was quite incisive and impressive.

Having taught Miss Zhang for over two years, I get a good understanding of her independent research ability, innovative ideas and rigorous academic attitude. In the meantime, she showed her particularly amicable personality and cheerful disposition in conducting herself with others.

As an excellent student assembled of all the ingredients to further achievements in information studies, Miss Zhang has my strong recommendation. And I am confident of her candidature for your program. Much appreciation for your favorable consideration of her application.

  Dear Sir or Madam,

It is my pleasure to recommend Ms. Liu Tingting as a very promising candidate for admission into your distinguished graduate program.

I knew Ms. Liu concretely through my course “com*r organization and structure” in autumn 2009. Whenever she attended my classes, she concentrates on the course and often asks a number of profound questions which other students would fail to think about. Those questions benefit not only herself but also her classmates. Her original but thought-provoking ideas indicated her good preparation supported by a keen mind which made her rank top in class. What is more, her insatiable curiosity and inquisitive spirit, that never let the slightest doubt remain unanswered, very much impressed me.

This creative and diligent girl accomplished her Graduation Thesis under my guidance. During the whole process, I totally touched by her assiduous attitude toward academic question and her effective learning approaches. Her thesis was new and unique, thus it was difficult to absorb much experience from other researches and papers. Addressing this tough problem, Ms. Liu devoted herself into reading numerous raw materials and literature and constantly discussed her confusions confronted with in the process of reading with me. Because of that, the opinions proposed in her thesis are insightful and comprehensive. Faced with such a smart girl, what I should do is nothing more than to try my best for offering help and instructions. Each time, after my guidance, she could better her draft and eventually she achieved a remarkable and excellent final one appreciated by each professor in my department.

Thanks to her diligent study, rigorous attitude and effective learning approach, she was recommended for the admission to be a graduate student of mine successfully. Through in-depth understanding of her, I found Ms. Liu packs the necessary qualities to be an excellent researcher as she is intelligent, industrious and focused. Having done amazing job in her studies has helped her to lay a solid theoretical foundation for future research work; her above-average coordination and organizing skills never fails to benefit her to delve into research, and her rosy outlook provides an endless source of motivation.

When she told me her intention to pursuit further study abroad in order to harvest more accomplishment in terms of academy, to broaden her horizons and to nurture her independent ability, .org/al/ I felt a little regrettable since she is such an excellent and potential student. Nevertheless, I am heartened by her plans and believed that she will make me proud, as well as able to achieve her goal after acquiring further training in your program. Therefore, I support her choice with sufficient confidence as nothing succeeds like success and as she is such an active and brilliant girl whose determination and persistence could bring her to the destination she desired. Based on the above, I sincerely ask you to favorably consider his applications for admission.

I have known mr.xiao ming since 20xx, when he was a fresh student in the class, as i was the instructor of their primary management. Mr. chen’s enthusiasm for and diligence in learning helped him become one of the most outstanding students in that class, xxx a strong and positive impression upon me。 his passionate participation in discussion during class sometimes enlightened the whole group。 and he was one of the few students to successfully pass the final exam of that subject, which was so difficult that quite a number of his classmates failed in it。

Lst year i have been selected as the instructor for the course of operating research。 as Mr.chen has finished his study in the management class with a high rank and chosen the course of operating research as his major, i have had the opportunity to know this young man better。 his excellent performance in class has continuously recalled those brilliant discussions two years ago to my mind。 what’s more, his creativity and capacity for ***ytical thinking have also convinced me that he improved himself a lot during his junior year before he returned to my class。 in addition, he has demonstrated explicitly his potential as a researcher to me。 through the personal communication between us he has also expressed the desire to attend a postgraduate program and do research work of higher quality in the academic field that he is interested in。 i think his only weakness is that he still needs more experience for real research work, for as an undergraduate he has limited time and energy to receive enough training for specialized research。 however, i believe a talented and hardworking young man like him could swiftly find the best way to develop his research work。

Mr. chen is ready to move on to a more rigorous program of graduate study。 his academic performance and upstanding personal character have won him my highest recommendation, and i hope you give his application strong consideration。

i am very pleased to have this opportunity to recommend one of my capable students at tianjin university, mr. xx, to your university's graduate program in industrial engineering. through my extensive observation of him in both academic and extracurricular fields, i have come to the conclusion that mr. x possesses a number of valuable qualifications that will make him an outstanding member of his graduate class.

i have had the pleasure of knowing mr. x when he was under my instruction in the course of quality management. while attending this course, mr. x has left me with an impression as a bright and hard-working student who is highly motivated in his coursework. unlike most of his peers, who gained knowledge merely from school lecturing, mr. x has spent a great amount of effort and time on carrying out the theory into practice, so i think he therefore has developed a real firm grasp of this subject.

in the past college years, he has enthusiastically taken part in many students' societies, such as basketball association, student union, english society and so on , which has shown his versatility and organization ability by serving in quite a few positions. in addition, he is also a warm-hearted person who often helps those who are in difficulty. being a volunteer, he paid a visit to the nursing home for the aged and the orphan school to have lessons for them for free while donating money for their education.

in general, i consider mr. x a highly promising applicant to the graduate program in his proposed field. i have the least reservation on his potential to succeed in his future educational as well as professional pursuits. i give him my highest recommendation.

thank you very much for your time and consideration. should you wish to discuss anything pertaining to his application, please do not hesitate to contact me.

  yours sincerely

范文二
