  除了按照字母组合与复合结构记忆英语单词外,我们还提倡使用联想和比较的方法。这些方法在某种条件下往往会成为单词记忆的最有效和最快速的方法,而且一旦确立“联系”,终生都不会忘记。联想法是指按照已知条件,学*者可以对单词记忆的各个方面做以由此及彼、由表及里的各种合理联想。如“STAMP”这个词我们只需记住其“跺脚”这个词义,就可以自然而然地联想到“盖邮戳”、“邮票”、“图章”、“标志、特征”、“种类”等多种词义。其联系在于跺脚与盖邮戳都有相似的动作内含,都含有用力和下击的成分,至于其它意义则很容易顺理成章地被推出。类似这样的情况在英语词汇中还有很多。比较法是指对于某一个单词而言,我们在记忆它的时候应该把与之相关的易混淆的词或其词性的各种变化形式一起拿来记忆,由一般到特殊,由已知推未知,这样就可以做到既掌握其意义和发音,又掌握其具体用法和区别所在。

  对于一个英语学*者来讲,如果他的英语单词能够做到望文生义、见形知音的话,可以说他已经具备了一定的单词量,除此以外他还需要一个灵活的头脑和刻苦的学*精神。灵活的头脑可以使一个人在英语学*的过程中做到举一反三,悟出规律,勤奋的学*精神又可以使这种规律性的东西不断得以延续和提高。
