I'm Alina Li and I'm Ben Hedges, and today we'll be taking you through some of the most important traditions of Chinese new year and historical background. We will look at some of the legends behind Chinese new year and how to celebrate it. Here in the US and Chinese across the world.
The Chinese have specific way to celebrate their new year. If you walk down the street in Chinatown during Chinese New Year, you see a variety of ancient traditions such as red banners, firecrackers and lion dance performances, streets are filled with lively celebration.
However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.
Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.
So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. let's take a look at some of these traditions.

在那里我看了许多从来都没见过的海鲜，有扁扁长长的身体，全身长着老虎一样的班纹，原来它叫老虎斑；有脸盆一样大的，长着许多足的章鱼；有一条鱼，它头部长有发电器官，它就是带电的家伙——电鳐；还有许多我叫不出名字的海鲜第二天，我们去了厦门著名的景点鼓浪屿，我们登上日光岩的顶峰，我们在顶峰拍照留念。
从上往下看，海面上有一只只大大小小的船，在波光鳞?的海面上缓缓行驶，如同明亮的珍珠一样，美丽极了。从日光岩下来，我去了金色沙滩我在沙滩玩得欢快极了。在沙滩上我建好一个城堡，一个海浪冲没了城堡，还弄湿了我的鞋子。转眼间一天过去了，我们依依不舍的告别鼓浪屿。愉快的`旅行结束了，我下次还要来这美丽的地方——厦门。

厦门还有一处美丽的地方那就是被碧海环抱的鼓浪屿，它位于厦门的西南面，与厦门只隔一条宽600多米的鹭江。岛上风光秀美，宛如一座精美的海上花园。鼓浪屿有钢琴600多台，只要你漫步在各个角落的小道上，就会不时听到悦耳的钢琴声，悠扬的小提琴声，轻快的吉他声，动人优美的歌声，这些美妙的声音，加以海浪的节拍，特别迷人。鼓浪屿的街道短小，纵横交错，因为鼓浪屿不允许开汽车所以空气新鲜，清洁幽静，岛上树木苍翠，繁花似锦，特别是红瓦小楼与绿树相映，显得格外漂亮。

前不久，我去了厦门三天。
我们乘动车去的，到了厦门，乘在大巴车上，去合家宾馆。咦!
合家宾馆不就在左边吗，我们怎么往右走呢?原来厦门很多路都禁左行走的，我们绕了一大圈才到宾馆。抵达之时，天色已经不早了，我和小俞哥哥美美地睡了一觉。
啊呜!我醒了，立即吃好早饭，乘大巴去鼓浪屿，听去过鼓浪屿的人都说，那是一个非常累的旅行，我想我才不怕呢!我这么想着进了鼓浪屿。我们去了公园，沙滩，老字号小吃店等等……最让我印象深刻的是大石头和索道。
大家以为大石头不就一块巨石么，有什么好奇怪的啊?其实，这是一块可以攀爬上去的大岩石，我和小俞哥哥一起爬了上去，前面的一段路程，我是扶着扶手上去的。可是后面的路没了扶手，那可真把我累得汗流浃背，真是一步一个脚印埃不久我们俩到了中间左走，走得更高，右走就稍微低了点。我选择了往左走，终于走到了顶，我这时候才发现啊，真的是好高啊!我吓得腿直哆嗦，心仿佛已经飞到九霄云外了。“哇!”大喊一声，心跳都快stop(停止)了。从上望下去可以望到整个鼓浪屿美丽的风景。下去时，我更加小心了，甚至恐慌，生怕掉下去似地。
到了地面，我们再去了海滩，我在海滩上跑来跑去，正要冲到海里去游泳的时候，小鱼哥哥拉住了我，说：“这是人造沙滩，在海里有漩涡的，有时候会把人吞进去。”我听了，这才没下水去。
天色渐晚，我们也乘渡轮，再转大巴回了宾馆。一早我们乘动车回了故乡宁波。我忘不了这次旅行，不会忘记厦门鼓浪屿美丽的风景，厦门，我一定会回来的!

我们坐了很长时间的.动车，终于到了厦门。我们去了鼓浪屿、植物园和厦门大学等许多旅游景点。其中最让我难忘的是去植物园了。
在植物园里，我们去了百花厅、沙生植物区和热带雨林。
在百花厅，我看了许多没有看见过的花，我觉得最好看的是兰花了。兰花有许多漂亮的颜色，美丽极了！
参观完百花厅，我们就出发去沙生植物区。在沙生植物区，我看见了许多从来没有看见过的仙人掌、芦荟等热带植物。可是因为沙生植物区太热，我们没看多少时间就回去了。
最让我难忘的是去热带雨林了。在那里，我看到了一种雨林奇观——绞杀：一棵榕树被许多像藤蔓一样的植物包裹起来，它们把榕树的养分和水分给吸走，让榕树枯萎死亡，然后一点一点地开始腐烂，到了晚期，榕树就会完全腐烂，最后消失。而藤蔓就会长成参天大树。
我们一直玩到中午，才依依不舍地离开了植物园。在回去的路上，我想：“大自然真神奇啊！竟然有这么多植物，真是让我大开眼界了！”
暑假期间，我去了一座美丽的城市——厦门。
听说厦门空气清新，景色迷人，这次我一定要好好欣赏一番。
汽车行驶在环岛路上，往右方向看是一片蔚蓝色的大海。海浪拍打着沙滩，让人一眼望过去就能感觉到淡淡的清凉。晶莹的水珠，游人的欢笑声，让我也想去海里玩。再向左边看，左边的景色真是美不胜收。柳枝随风舞动，椰子在树上碰撞发出“咚咚”的声音。好似在演奏一场音乐会。
过了一会儿我到了厦门著名的海洋水族馆，我们买好票跟着人流缓缓的往里面走。啊，我看到了我最喜欢的鱼——魔鬼鱼。魔鬼鱼的背上是全黑的，肚子白白的，拖着长长的尾巴，扇动着一对大大的翅膀，灵活自如的在水里游来游去，潇洒自如。
游览了水族馆，我们来到了*最美丽的大学——厦门大学。走进校门，挺拔的椰子树，美丽的花坛，上下舞动的喷泉，整洁的环境，都让我非常喜欢。我逛了校园里的书店，竟然看到了我以前最喜欢的《笑猫日记》，一下子吸引了我，我挑选了几本自己喜欢的书，还有美丽的钥匙扣，收获很大哦。

晚上，我们沿着环岛路去海边烧烤，环岛路上，明亮的灯光，热闹的海鲜大排档，装扮地比白天更美了，我们烤着美味的事物，尽情地吃了起来。
