艾迪生的话也许听起来简单，但她却包含了大量的生活哲理，并且让我们明白了谦虚的重要性。为什么谦虚在我们的生活中扮演如此重要的角色呢?谦虚可以使人获得更大的成功。那些谦虚的人永远都不会满足于当前的成就，取而代之的是，他们会一直努力地工作，来达成更高的目标。相当多的例子可以用来证明谦虚的重要性，但是除了下面这个例子，我想不到更好的了。曾只是个出身卑微的印刷工本杰明.富兰克林，如果他只是满足于小小的成就，他怎么可能后来在科学、政治、文学和航海学等那么多的领域取得巨大的成就呢?
我们应该牢记在心，谦虚会让我们走的更远。因此，任何时候我们都不能满足于小小的成就，取而代之的是，我们应该保持一个开放的心态，去接受新事物，吸收新信息，学*新知识并且抓住新机会。“成功在于勤奋和谦虚”一位哲人也曾经说过。
The elderly have accumulated a lifetime’s worth of experience. However, many young people often regard them as irrelevant, embarrassing, and out of touch. As far as I am concerned, the traditional Chinese virtue to respect the old people needs to be emphasized.
老年人积累了一生的宝贵经验。然而，许多年轻人把它漠不关心，感到为难并且与老人失去联系。就我个人而言，尊重老年人是中华民族的传统美德这种观念应该加强。
Firstly, the elderly deserve the respect due to their effort in bringing up their children and their contribution to society. We should always bear in mind that what we have and enjoy now was created by the aged people in the early days, as the old Chinese saying goes,” One generation plants trees under whose shade another generation rests.” Secondly, family is one of the best places for learning values, therefore, to set an example at home by taking good care of the elderly members, so that children learn to adopt this same practice. In this way, families will exemplify the right values, and young members will learn first-hand on how to respect the elderly.
首先，由于老人在抚育他们的孩子和对社会的贡献上来看，他们要受到尊重。我们应该一直记住我们现在拥有和享受到的东西是老一辈在早年时期创造出来的，正如中国的古语所说：“前人栽树后人乘凉”。第二，家是学*价值观最好的地方，因此给家庭成员树立一个照料家人的好榜样，孩子也会这样做。如此，家人就会作为正确价值观的典型榜样，年轻的成员就会直接学*到如何尊重老年人。
Perhaps the most important test of a society is the way individuals behave towards one another. If young people do not respect the elderly; the whole of society will be a mess without respect. Therefore, the elderly should be respected by all of us.
也许社会中最重要的测试就是个人对另一个人的表现，如果年轻人不尊重老年人，整个社会缺乏尊重就会一片混乱。因此，老年人应该受到我们的尊重。
We must uphold these core virtues including diligence, honesty, justice and responsibility. Traditionally, we Chinese admire the virtue of plain living and hard struggle. The vital importance is also placed on honesty and justice.
In my eyes, however, responsibility tops our priority. To shoulder some heavy responsibilities, we must keep a style of plain living and hard struggle. Responsibility also means honesty and justice. Everyone must assume a set of responsibilities. For example, we college students must take the responsibility for pursuing the impressive academic performance. But an army of students plant themselves in online games, an activity which compels them to shun huge responsibilities.
the virtue of responsibility is strongly associated with the " Eight Dos and Don’ts " moral campaign in full swing. Under this slogan, everyone must take on his/her own responsibilities and dedicate to his/her own position. Unquestionably, everyone must promote the socialist concept of honor and disgrace.
Almost everyone needs help in their lives. Helping others is a great pleasure. I still remember this person who used to help me. One morning, my mother got ill and I quickly rode my bike to buy some medicine for her. I was in such a hurry that my bike hit a tree and I fell onto the ground. Just then, a man saw what was happening when driving past. He stopped to take me to the nearest hospital. Luckily, the doctor said I wasn't badly hurt. Then the man took me to the drugstore and helped me buy some medicine for my mother. And finally, he drove me home. How kind he was! Since then, I have started to help others in need. I think a little help can make a big difference to others.
Virtue is like a rich stone, best plain set; and surely virtue is best, in a body that is comely ,though not of delicate features; and that hath rather dignity of presence, than beauty of aspect. 美德好比宝石，在朴素背景的衬托下反而更华丽。同样，一个打扮并不华贵，却端庄严肃而有美德的人是令人肃然起敬的。
美貌的人并不都有其他方面的才能。许多容貌俊秀的人却一无所有，他们过于追求外形的美而放弃了内在的美。
仔细分析起来，形体之美要胜于颜色之美，而优雅行为之美又胜于形体之美。最高的美是画家所无法表现的。因为它是难以直观的。这是一种奇妙的美，曾经有两位画家――阿皮雷斯和丢勒滑稽地认为，可以按照几何比例，或者通过摄取不同人身上最美的特点，加以合成的方法，画出最完美的`人像。
其实像这样画出来的美人，恐怕只有画家才喜欢。
有些老人显得很可爱，因为他们的作风优雅而美。“美人的迟暮也是美的。”而尽管有的年轻人具有美貌，却由于缺乏优美的修养而不配得到赞美。
美有如盛夏的水果，而容易腐烂而难保持的，世上有许多美人，他们有过放荡青春，却迎受着愧悔的晚年。
因此，把美的形貌与美的德行结合起来吧。只有这样，美会放射出真正的光辉。
