Good morning everyone, it's my pleasure to be here and talk about dreams and ambitions with you. When I was a primary school student I wrote in my composition that I want to be a scientist when I grow up. At that age I didn't know what is a scientist, nor did I know what is dream. I wrote it because it's a standard answer for a composition test. And I know if I wrote that I want to be a peasant I would be criticized and laughed at, no matter what reason I gave it. But now in university, one of my classmates changed my idea. At the career planning class when asked about our dreams, one of my classmates stood up and said, " I want to be a peasant because I grow up in a peasant family and I love it." No laughter, no criticism, he was the only who winned a clapping.

It sets me thinking, which should be a man's dream? a scientist, or a peasant? It's not a simple question and my answer is both. This is exactly my understanding of this topic. Dreams are something we really want and are willing to try every effort to achieve, no matter how great or how small, no matter how others think, it depends on you.

Life is long, and we are just on the starting point. Finally we'll understand life is not just about making a living. There're something much more important than money and material enjoyment, that is spiritual wealth, that is dream. It's the process of your pursuit of dream, the process when you are trying, when you are seeking, when you are struggling, when you failed and restarted again and again with your determination, hardwork, and perseverance that make you, build you, and help you to lead a worthy and significative life, whether you'll achieve your dream or not, the result is not that important.

  Thanks for listening!

Hello everyone! My name is Wei Xiuying. I’m a student from Zhen’an Middle School. I’m from Class 3 Grade 8. I’m shy but there is always a smile on my face. At school, I have some good habits. For example, I read books every day, I often play sports. My favorite sport is ping-pong. Because I really like Ding Ning. She can play it very well. I often play it with my classmates at school in the afternoon. It is interesting. Our school is very nice. First, there is a beautiful garden in our school. It has a lot of flowers and trees. The flowers are colorful and smell good. The trees are green and you can have a rest under the tree. Second, there is a big playground in our school too. We can play basketball, play badminton, run and so on. It is healthy for our mind and body to play sports. Third, there is also a dining hall in our school. We can have meals there and the food tastes delicious. The teachers are very friendly to us. They usually help with our study. Although they sometimes are strict, they just want us to get good grades. I love my classmates too. Because they can make me laugh and I can learn a lot from them. They often bring out the best in me. In a word, I love my school!

  Thank you for your listening.

  Dear teacher and classmates:

I am very glad to make a speech here in this class again! This time, I'd like to talk something about English.

I love English. English language is now used everywhere in the world. It has become the most common language on Internet and for international trade. Learning English makes me confident and brings me great pleasure.

When I was seven, my mother sent me to an English school. At there, I played games and sang English songs with other children . Then I discovered the beauty of the language, and began my colorful dream in the English world.

Everyday, I read English following the tapes. Sometimes, I watch English cartoons.

On the weekend, I often go to the English corner. By talking with different people there, I have made more and more friends as well as improved my oral English.

I hope I can travel around the world someday. I want to go to America to visit Washington Monument, because the president Washington is my idol. Of course, I want to go to London too, because England is where English language developed. If I can ride my bike in Cambridge university, I will be very happy.

I hope I can speak English with everyone in the world. I'll introduce China to them, such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Anshan.

I know, Rome was not built in a day. I believe that after continuous hard study, one day I can speak English very well.

If you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. So I believe as I love English everyday , it will love me too.

People don’t like to go outside. They have to wear heavy coats, scarves andgloves. But children like to be outside. Because it often snows. There is snowaround. There is ice on the ground. Children can throw snowballs, make thesnowmen. Oh, look. What a surprise! Do you see? The river is frozen! Here come the boys, there come the girls, they are skating in the riverhappily. Oh! Winter comes. It is really an interesting season. It has so muchfun!

failure is a common thing in one's life. almost everyone experiences failure in his life. when one fails in his attempt in doing something, he often feels upset. some people may yield to failure and flinch from it. but others will stick to and achieve the final success. success is what everyone expects. it may lead to fame and glory. when one suc ceeds in doing something, he gets so excited that he often neglects all the unsuccessful at tempts he has done. as the old saying goes, "failure teaches success." it is true that failure is an impor tam factor toward success. the way to success is full of various difficulties and obstacles. many important inventions or discoveries were achieved after hundreds of failure. and only those successes which have been achieved after many failures are really valuable and praiseworthy.

Days ago, in a biology class, our teacher told us something about the gene project and some experiments done on the animals. He was talking about it in a proud tone, but I felt really upset when I heard that. I think it unfair to treat the animals like this.

Yes, nowadays, we do often hear about new discoveries brought by this kind of experiments. But when we humans are proud of how clever and great we are, does anyone of us think how miserable it is for those animals that sacrifice in the experiments? We inject viruses and bacteria into their bodies to observe their reaction, in this way, we can know more about the illnesses that we can’t cure at present and we may get rid of them in the future.

But since we ourselves don’t want to suffer from them, why do we torture the animals? We are all creatures on the same planet, and we are equal. Human beings, although being the most intelligent, have no right to treat the others like this. I have to admit that we do benefit a lot from those experiments and I know it’s unreasonable to stop the advancing of science and technology. But I hope we can find a balance point between the two.

Nothing can I change, but wonder whether we all lives share the same rights; nothing can I change, but wonder whether science should control everything; nothing can I change, but wonder whether the perfection of technology can achieve the perfection of humanity; nothing can I do, but appeal: Please respect all the creatures, because we are all connected in the great circle of life!

It was a man who let me respect, even though he had no great things, but he gave me the best life. Even if they have a room on the ground floor, but he gave me a warm home; Even though he will not rhetoric, but he has let me feel the endless love, he is my father.

My father is an ordinary worker, in order to give the family a better life, he must every day. Every morning I hear the first voice, often is not the alarm clock on the table, but the door shutting for dad go to work; Home every day at noon, the table is not empty, but the dad buy the steamed stuffed bun as usual; Every evening after school, home to open the door to see often isn't the station's father, but the one who lie on the bed, tired of his father.

A few weeks ago, mom because home a little things, so you have to go back to see, to live in the old some day. So dad, just as the care of my mission, but dad usually work in the morning and evening, even won't take care of yourself, how to take care of me? So nature is I to take care of my dad more.

I finished cooking dinner first, and then he started cooking, but at the moment I what also not ah, can only casually up some scrambled eggs. Food prepared in half an hour, I began to get up to call father, I seem to see in my dad's face a little tired. That is, I respect people, maybe he so arrive every day, tired to sleep sleep over the weekend. but he is going to let I respect.

An unforgettable travel experienceThere has been a long time since I came back from Hainan―wowhainan is such a wonderful place that I will never forget it .It‘s really a good place where gave me a rather good impression. I feel so wonderful during the journey as I have experienced a lot of things for the first time.

In January 7th ---the first day of my journey the fluttering snowflakes diffused over Changzhou. I first took the train to shanghai then took the plane to Hainan in Pudong airport. Although it’s my second time to take plane I felt even more excited than the first time. When flying I found that I was flying over the cloud of different types and colors. The sky is also brighter and clearer than that I had ever seen. Soon we arrived in Meilan airport in Haikou the climate is totally different from that in Changzhou It was warm there and we could see coconut trees everywhere. After 3 days competition I went to BoAo where is famous for its forum.

It was my first time to experience the sea and the beach in the sunshine. When sitting on the cruise I could clearly see the ocean waves pushing the windows of the cruise. It seemed that I was surrounded by the waves and the crystal water.

I felt as if a fish which had been living in the sea happily. Then we land on the beach. The sand on the beach was so soft that it was cosy to lie on the beach. I tried searching for the shells on the beach but failed. The beach was totally different from what I heard before as there was nothing except footsteps on the beach. In the afternoon I played football on beach and scored a goal with my new friends from all around China.

It was really interesting and challenging. The next day I went to Haikou. I first visited the tomb of Hairui an officer in Qing dynasty who was famous for rectitude. I think he should be the role model of every person. In the afternoon I went to the geological park of volcano. A lot of stones of different shapes came into views. When arriving the top of the park it seemed that the while city was under my view. Also I had seen plenty of interesting and rare types of the plants.

I also got into a small hole in the park it is said that the hold was exactly the original hole where maqma came from. But the volcano had stopped from erupting for thousands of years.I can’t forget this trip not only does it give me a lot of joy knowledge and good memory but also it give me a chance to make friends with people from different fart in China. By enjoying the excellent scenery I think I have fallen in love with this beautiful city. I will cherish this experience.

We all know that environment is so important to ourselves and our future generations. Natural resources have been depleted in an unprecedented scale. The environment has been polluted in a way that never happened before. It is certain that the world and all the living organism on it are going straight to hell. But why those in power, no matter how loud they speak out environmental protection, very few of them really care. The reason is si-mp-le. Human beings are greedy in nature. In ancient times, technology is lacking, human beings did not have the right tool to exploit the nature on large scale. With industrial revolution and the development of science and technology, these things can be achieved with relative ease. It can be said that the development of science can be a gospel and a curse on human race at the same time. It is more than certain that the world is going straight to hell. Climate change comes at an unprecedented rate. We can see all the polar ice sheet melt in our own lifetime. Cities by the sea will be flooded. Summer will get unbearably hot. Almost all the natural resources will be depleted. It is not that world leaders are unaware of this , but because of their greed no one is able to put the interest of the general public and future generations over their own pride. Development sounds an untouchable truth. Anything that comes in its way will be neglected. One thing that we never ponder is that the space and resources on this planet is limited which means that the raw material and space for development is also limited. Now matter how great and intelligent human beings might be, we have our own weakness. The more intelligent a creature is, the more physically vulnerable it is. With the worsening of the living environment, one can rarely predict that how many of us will eventually survive this unprecedented change. It is time for us to think whether we should live in a more environmentally friendly manner so that our offsprings will also have space and resources to live with or we just pamper ourselves to the extreme and forget about our future generation and the human race at large.

what is happiness? different people have different ideas. some people are rich; they think they are happy. other people have many friends, so they feel happy. still others are happy because their lives are meaningful.

happiness attracts everyone. for children, happiness often suggests eating something good or playing with toys. for a stamp collector, stamps bring more delight than meals. and for a scientist, a discovery or an invention rather than anything else gives him greatest satisfaction.

there was once a beggar who was always happy. the king saw him and wondered why he was so happy because he was so poor. however, the king could have whatever he wanted; yet he himself was not happy at all. thus we can see one’s happiness doesn’t depend on whether he is rich or poor. happiness is a state of mind. as long as one thinks he’s content and satisfied, he is happy.

as everything exist only because its opposite, happiness exists only when pain exists. just as a person who does not know failure never knows success, a person, who has not experienced suffering or sadness never knows what happiness means.

happiness always promises a hope by which people go on living. when they come to the point of losing hope because they have suffered a great deal, it is often the time when happiness comes that will give them the courage and desire to live.

cheer up and be happy. happiness is not far from you. it’s just around you. try to grasp it and enjoy it.

Needless to say, money is not very important, but very very important.

If there is no money, I can’t use this microphone to speak to you and we can’t have such a room to hold such a competition. Without money, we can’t study in such a schoolyard. Without money, we can’t live in such a hometown. Without money, we can’t have such a motherland. On the other hand, If there is no money, you don’t need to bear my speech about money now.

Most of us have dreams about the future, dreams of having a good job and making much money. Surely someone has thought at times “If only I had a lot of money, I could be the happiest person in the world.” In fact it’s the main mistake that people make about money.

However, is money the road to happiness? Not really! Many people work every day, work overtime, work weekends to make a lot of money. Are they happy? No. They are too busy making money. Meanwhile, their personal lives, if they have any, fall apart. They have no time to form or to maintain friendship. They even lose the abilities to relax and to enjoy themselves. Enjoying means taking things, taking time to see, to hear, to taste, to smell, to feel. They do not take time to do this. They say: “I’ll do it when I have enough money to retire” then they find that it is too late.

Why we usually make such a mistake and even more mistakes? Activists say it is because of money itself. They think money has changed many things. For example, they think money has changed our way to measure someone’s value in the society. They even regard money as the source of evil. Also, they hate money, but they are wrong, completely wrong.

In my opinion, it is unfair to money. Money is a tool. Well, there’s no denying that we do something harmful with money. But we can’t say money is the source of evil. Just like a hammer, we can use a hammer to kill someone, but can we say a hammer is a devil? It is the same with money.

we are the world ,we are the future someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. i don’t know who wrote these words, but i’ve always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. we are all in the position of the farmers.

if we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. if we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all. we are young. “how to spend the youth?” it is a meaningful question. to answer it, first i have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” youth is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. it’s not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees.

it’s the matter of the will. it’s the freshness of the deep spring of life. a poet said “to see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour. several days ago, i had a chance to listen to a lecture. i learnt a lot there. i’d like to share it with all of you. let’s show our right palms. we can see three lines that show how our love.career and life is. i have a short line of life. what about yours? i wondered whether we could see our future in this way. well, let’s make a fist. where is our future?

where is our love, career, and life? tell me.yeah, it is in our hands. it is held in ourselves. we all want the future to be better than the past. but the future can go better itself. don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened. from the past, we’ve learnt that the life is tough, but we are tougher. we’ve learnt that we can’t choose how we feel, but we can choose what about it. failure doesn’t mean you don’t have it, it does mean you should do it in a different way. failure doesn’t mean you should give up, it does mean you must try harder. as what i said at the beginning, “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. the past has gone. nothing we do will change it.

but the future is in front of us. believe that what we give to the world, the world will give to us. and from today on, let’s be the owners of ourselves, and speak out “we are the world, we are the future.”

  Farewell, Indifference

Who was the most well-known figure in China last month? It‘s Ma JiaJue—the college student who murdered 4 of his roommates. Many people attributed his crime to his poverty and deficient education. In my opinion, his crime also has much to do with his classmates‘ indifference.

Indifference is a terrible disease in today‘s colleges and the whole society. It‘s not rare that two students who have studied together for 4 years have never spoken to each other. It‘s not rare that a student who has been absent from class for several days is not noticed at all. It‘s also not rare that a student who has severe psychological problems is not cared about at all.

Some people may say ?What the students with psychological problems like Ma JiaJue need is not care but psychotherapy.‖ However, when people are ill, what they need most is not only medical treatment, but also care from people around them. Every smile and every caring word will bring sunshine to their life.

I once heard one of my roommates who was an introverted girl sobbing at mid-night. Being afraid of disturbing her, I sent a text message to comfort her. The next day, she told me that she was crying for not being invited to one of her friend‘s birthday party. She thought she was neglected by others. But my message was really comforting which told her someone still cared about her.

What can we do to prevent the tragedy of Ma JiaJue from happening again? Some people may say ?Let‘s open more psychological courses in schools.‘ and other people may say ?Let‘s donate more money for the poor students.‘ But I‘ll say ―My fellow student, let‘s give more love and care to our roommates, our classmates and every person around us!‖

I Am Tripping My Elephant Here

Once upon a time, a weenie ant was walking on his way. As he was walking, suddenly he felt the ground shaking terribly. He looked around with his paranoid eyes and saw an elephant walking right behind him. Quickly, the little ant covered himself with dirt, but one leg was unfortunately left out. A sparrow saw everything, so she flew down with the purpose of teasing the ant: ―Hey, chicken! Watch out your leg, it‘s out!‖ The ant felt embarrassed at first but then calmly responded: ―Shi…I am going to trip that elephant.‖

Right now, I‘m standing on this glamorous stage. But everything here reminds me of is a not so fun memory. Around this time last year I was in Nanjing competing in another speech contest. That was the first time for me to be in such a large event. Of course the pressure I was under was immense too. After a sleepless and stressful night, I went onto that stage without the feeling in my legs. That speech turned out to be horrible. I don‘t remember how I get down from there, but I do remember afterwards I just wanted to find a hole to hide in just like the ant in the story. Back at my school, it took a long time for me to recover. Thanks to all the help I got from my special friends. My confidence was restored. After rounds of giving speeches and answering tough questions, I am here today. From all that I‘ve been through I‘ve learned that a good future is based on a forgotten past, if I want my life to go on well I have to let go of my past failure. So today, with out fear, I am tripping my elephant again.

13 Hold Fast To Your Dreams

  Hold Fast To Your Dreams

  I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

Wow, what a dream it has been for Martin Luther King. But the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the process of growing up, and sometimes I personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.

However, we need dreams. They nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality. They keep us going. Most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. When we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. Now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. However, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. Don‘t let

the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. So my dear friend, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.

  1. Good afternoon, my dear friends.

I am very happy to meet you here.It is my great honor to communicate with you at such a special occation.First of all, please allow me to express my appreciation to you all to listion to me.

I am proud of being a college student. The collegelife is fresh, new teachers, new classmates and new friends. I like the friendship, and their wide knowledge and opening mind. The grand library, school buildings and wide playground attrattde me very much.My college life is better than I expected, I can do anything I like. In the college we can not only learn the professional knowledge, but also develop our comprehensive abilities. If we can make full use of the period,we can learn many useful things.Besides,we should have the active attitude to our life,do a contributionto the society.

Collegelife is the most precious time in our life. Most of us want to become an outstanding man. But there are some students still waste their time. They get together for eating, drinking or playing cards. They're busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. They completely forget their task as college students.

Finally, I hope everybody can try their best to become a worthy person to our country, and make great contributions to the society!

  2. I believe in our future

  Honorable Judges, fellow students:

  Good afternoon!

Recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. The college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places. But will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? Will we be able to better the lives of others? Will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?

The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The college students I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.

The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care dee*** for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.

As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. We are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. I believe in our future.

  3. Change The Ingredients Of Your Life

This is a glass of water, tasteless, right? However if you add sugar, it will taste sweet, but if you add vinegar, it will become bitter. The same is true with our life____ the flavor is created by our choices.

If kindness is added to a strange you will have a friend; but if hostility is added, you will have an enemy. If love is added to a pile of red bricks you will have a home, but if hatred is add to those bricks , you will have an concentration camp.

So my dear friends, never complain that life is boring and the world is disappointing. If don’t like the taste of your life, change the ingredients.

Three year ago, I weighed more than 100 hundred kilograms which caused significant embarrassment and frustration in my life. Like always failing my P.E examinations, like always being laughed at by girls, like being terrified to speak in public. It was my grandmother’s encouragement that revived from my passive attitude to become confident in myself. She said “ My dear, if you can’t change you figure, why not treat it as your own style. So I began to cautiously employ the new way of thinking. By choosing to change my outlook on life, I developed the confidence to make a difference and finally I found a totally new world.

So my dear friend, if faith, hope, love, endurance are added to your life, you will find the confidence to conquer your limitation and embrace new challenges. And hopefully with my speech included, you will have a fantastic speech contest.

  4.Hold Fast To Your Dreams

  5. Make Every Moment Count

One night, I complained to my mom about the lack of time. Finally she said,"you are short of time just because you waste precious minutes on complaints and anxiety. The point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard, you can always fit in some thing more." It is the same with filling the jar. Even if you place a dozen fist-sized rocks and a bucket of gravel into the jar, there is still space for sand and water between the rocks and gravel.

The lack of time is just the excuse for my negligence of every single minute. I believe that the great dividing line between success and failure can be expressed in six words,"I did not have enough time."The fact is I do have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. The point is I have never touched upon the real meaning of life which lies in snatching, seizing and enjoying every minute of it. No idleness, no delay, no procrastination, no complaint! It is during my moments of complaining or hesitation that my destiny is shaped. Once I make full use of every moment, I believe that, my worries will be gradually cut down to nothing.

Time is the most valuable of all our possessions, but the most perishable as well. As Henry David Thoreau said,"You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment."

Whenever I fell the lack of time in the future, I will tell myself "Carpe diem , seize the day, make every moment count."

but one hundred years later, we must face the tragic fact that the negro is still not free. one hundred years later, the life of the negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. one hundred years later, the negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. one hundred years later, the negro is still languishing in the corners of american society and finds himself an exile in his own land. so we have come here today to dramatize an appalling condition.

in a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. when the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the constitution and the declaration of independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every american was to fall heir. this note was a promise that all men would be guaranteed the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

it is obvious today that america has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. instead of honoring this sacred obligation, america has given the negro people a bad check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." but we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. we refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation.

so we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

we have also come to this hallowed spot to remind america of the fierce urgency of now. this is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of god's children. now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.

it would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of the negro. this sweltering summer of the negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning.

those who hope that the negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. there will be neither rest nor tranquility in america until the negro is granted his citizenship rights. the whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

but there is something that i must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. in the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

we must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. we must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

the marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

we cannot walk alone.and as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. we cannot turn back. there are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "when will you be satisfied?" we can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. we cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. we can never be satisfied as long as a negro in mississippi cannot vote and a negro in new york believes he has nothing for which to vote. no, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

Students, guests , teachers and Honorable Judges

  Good morning !

my great pleasure to share my dream with you today. When I was a child, I wanted to be a teacher. My father was a teacher, and he taught me a lot. I worshiped him very much. On my tenth birthday, he asked me,“What do you want to be when you grow up?”I answered proudly,“I want to be a teacher like you!”On hearing this, my father was very happy and said to me, “Work hard and your dream will come true.” Not long ago, one of my primary school teachers was ill. She wanted me to take her place for two weeks. I was glad but nervous. My father said to me,“This is a good chance. Seize it! I wish you success!” When I came into the classroom, the children were very happy.

I introduced myself to them. Soon, I got on well with them. They all liked me and I loved them. With my father and headmaster's help, I did the work very well. Now, I often miss those lovely children. That experience had made me even more interested in being a teacher in the future.

We Are The World ,We Are The Future

Someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”.

It’s the freshneof the deep spring of life.

  我有一个梦想,有一天在阿拉巴马州,那里的种族主义者,那里的州长嘴里滴着干预和无效的话,有一天在阿拉巴马州,黑人小男孩和黑人女孩将能够像兄弟姐妹一样与白人小男孩和白人女孩携手共进;

five score years ago, a great american, in whose symbolic shadow we stand signed the emancipation proclamation. this momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. it came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of captivity.

but one hundred years later, we must face the tragic fact that the negro is still not free. one hundred years later, the life of the negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. one hundred years later, the negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. one hundred years later, the negro is still languishing in the corners of american society and finds himself an exile in his own land. so we have come here today to dramatize an appalling condition.

in a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. when the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the constitution and the declaration of independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every american was to fall heir. this note was a promise that all men would be guaranteed the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

it is obvious today that america has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. instead of honoring this sacred obligation, america has given the negro people a bad check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." but we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. we refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation.

so we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

we have also come to this hallowed spot to remind america of the fierce urgency of now. this is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling o

I have many dreams, such as I am rich in the future. Therefore, I can buy all what I want. But my greatest dream is that I want to be an astronaut. Our country develops fast and our space make great progress in the last several decades. It has great achievements. All of our country are proud of it. Therefore, I want to be one of this amazing area.

In order to make my dream come true, I must work hard now. So that I can go to a good university to learn more knowledge. I hope my dream can come true one day.

Dreams are the wind for our sails on the ocean.? Dreams kindle a flame to illuminate our dark roads. Dreams are the armor for our fragile hearts. Martin Luther King had a dream ― it was to have justice for all people. Lincoln had a dream ― it was to set the slaves free. They sought their dreams and ultimately made them e true. When I was young, I saw a dog one day. I threw a stone at it just for fun. Then it fell down and looked very weak. At that moment, I was surprised to notice it was pregnant. I can’t remember what happened next, but there’s one thing I know: that I felt guilty. It was the first time that I found life could so easily pass away. At that time, I had a dream, which was to help those people who needed help. There are too many wars and disasters. About 16,000 people have died in the Iraq War and one child dies every eight seconds in Africa because of starvation.? I have dreams, you have dreams and they have dreams too. We should help them. We should save their lives so that they can pursue their own dreams. Just like the lyric of a song says, “We are the ones who make a brighter day so let’s start giving.” Well, that’s my dream, a simple but meaningful one.

Leo Tolstoy once said, everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.

He is right. We always have great plans and dreams in our minds… too ready to achieve something grand that changes the world or benefits all of mankind example; we hate pollution and have made up our minds to find new energy sources that keep the environment clean. Yet we still litter on the ground. We complain about traffic jams, so we plan to build more highways to solve the problem, but it never occurs to us that our failure to follow traffic regulations is the leading cause of this situation. We are so concerned that the violence in the media has a bad impact on our children, we urge the government to set laws to protect them. But, do we, as adults, set a good example for our kids? We use nasty words and even spit on the ground in front of them, I dare to say, we harm more!

In my opinion, before we decide to change the world, we had better change ourselves first. As ordinary individuals, we do not have the power to change the world. But we can change our habit of littering, spitting, cussing, we can respect the environment around us, we must act as good models for our kids.

If each of us does all of these little things, all of us, millions and millions of individuals together, together we will be strong …strong enough to change our world!

So please, the next time you do something, think how your actions influence not only you, but those around you too, especially our children …and perhaps more importantly…our planet!

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, still have a dream. It is a dream dee*** rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its belief: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood; I have a dream .....

That one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state suffering from the heat of unfairness, suffering from the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice; I have a dream

That my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character; I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day down in Alabama, with its evii racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and invalidity, one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers; I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be gone, every hill and mountain shall be made Iow, and rough places will be made plane and crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

Dreams are the wind for our sails on the ocean. Dreams kindle a flame to illuminate our dark roads. Dreams are the armor for our fragile hearts. Martin Luther King had a dream ― it was to have justice for all people. Lincoln had a dream ― it was to set the slaves free. They sought their dreams and ultimately made them come true. My name is Dongqi Yang from china, I am horror to be here today and I amvery happy to receive this award.

As you can imagine, as international students in Australia, the biggestchallenge is English,I remembered that when I come here first time, there is aparty in the house of my home stay. During the time, they played jokes and theylaughed all the time, do you know how embarrassed that is, everyone laughedexcept you. So I pretend to understand the joke in another party, I saw everyonelaugh and I laugh too in 5 seconds later. My home stay was surprised about thatand asked me “do you understand?”,and I answered “no”,“So why do you laugh?””because I do not want to be embarrassed”!

But as I receive this award today, I want to thank to them, because theyencourage me to be involved with the committee rather than staying in at home, play computer and speak Chinese.

When I came to Wantirna College first time, I met liz collar who isinternational student coordinator. That is the reason why I told her, I don’t want to go to SRCanymore. But she said “why not? You should go and you have to go!”I asked” why?”she said:” because I said so!”
