General Introduction
I am a third year master major in automation at xx University， P. R. China。 With tremendous interest in Industrial Engineering， I am writing to ap* for acceptance into your Ph。D。 graduate program。
Education background
At the period of my graduate study， my overall GPA(3。774。0) ranked top 5% in the department。 In the second semester， I became teacher assistant that is given to talented and matured students only。 This year， I won the Acer Scholarship as the one and only candidate in my department， which is the ultimate accolade for distinguished students endowed by my university。 Presently， I am preparing my graduation thesis and trying for the honor of Excellent Graduation Thesis。
Research experience and academic activity
When a sophomore， I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my future research。 With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab， I designed a simulation program for transportation sche*ng system。 It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST。 I assumed and fulfilled a sewage ***ysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant。 This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a mercial product。
In retrospect， I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience， which has prepared me for the Ph。D。 program。 My future research interests include: Network Sche*ng Problem， Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network)， Sup* chain network research， Hybrid system performance ***ysis with Petri nets and Data Mining。
It is a commonplace among moralists that you cannot get happiness by pursuing it. This is only true if you pursue it unwisely. Gamblers at Monte Carlo are pursuing money, and most of them lose it instead, but there are other ways of pursuing money, which often succeed. So it is with happiness. If you pursue it by means of drink, you are forgetting the hangover. Epicurus pursued it by living only in congenial society and eating only dry bread, supplemented by a little cheese on feast days. Matt and his wife lived in the country. Matt was very stingy and hated spending money. One day a fair came to the nearby town.
"Let’s go to the fair, Matt," his wife said. "We haven’t been anywhere for a long time."
Matt thought about this for a while. He knew he would have to spend money at the fair. At last he said, "All right, but I’m not going to spend much money. We’ll look at things, but we won’t buy anything. "

Matt agreed, and got into the small airplane with his wife.
The pilot took off and made his airplane do all kinds of things. At one moment it was flying upside down.
When the plane landed, the pilot said, "0. K. your wife didn’t make a sound. She can have her ride free."
"Thank you," Matt said. "It wasn’t easy for her, you know, especially when she fell out."

It’s about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. And we should always remember to be ourselves. Other might have things that we desire but being what we really are is the only trail leading to the true colors of life. Most of all, it’s about choosing to use your life to touch someone else’s in a way that could have never been achieved otherwise.
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers; we buy more but enjoy them less. We’ve learnt how to make a living but not a life, we’ve added years to life, but not life to years. And it is time for us to choose whether to make a difference in our life.
And these choices are what life is about.

This famous Indian poet once said, “Life is given to us, and we earn it by giving it.
” As the saying goes, nature is given to us, and we earn it by contributing to it.
However, most people nowadays just want to ask for more from the nature.
In fact, they do very little contribution to the nature.
Therefore, the environment around us is becoming worse and worse.
Do you often use batteries? Then do you know it takes 50 times more energy to make them than they produce? And just one simple battery can pollute as much water as a person can drink in his whole life.
The facts and figures are amazing.
So would you please try to use batteries only when it is necessary? If possible, give the used ones to the recycling companies so that they will be made into new ones and won’t be able to pollute the environment any more.
Sometimes we become complacent when it comes to recycling, but when you speak in terms of actual facts and figures that everybody can understand, people become much clearer about the problem.
We, as school students, can also join in recycling activities to protect the environment.
For example, our class set up a recycling center beside the back door, it is very useful.
It is used to collect the waste paper and plastic bottles.
In the past, our classmates used to throw all of these into the trashcan.
At the very beginning of this collecting activity, it was not so warm-welcomed.
Later, more and more people were influenced by the others and joined this collecting activity.
Gradually, all the students in our class form a good habit to protect the environment.
All of us will now put away the reusable things instead of throwing them into the trashcan.
We should always remember in our mind that protecting the environment is our duty that we can never neglect.
Finally would you please let me end this speech with a little poem, “Be kind to the river.

When having to make a choice most people think they have to choose between the two. Far too often people go for the latter and naturally choose fun. For instance many people would prefer watching television, or more commonly known as TV to exercising, we all know that it’s true, right? The problem is, if you don’t exercise you will become weak and ultimately out of shape and it is no fun to be out of shape, right? So the question is, why not turn exercise into fun?
As an example, if TV is your favorite thing to do, why not connect your TV set to an electric generator that is charged by a stationary bike, you know, the kind of bike you peddle, that doesn’t go anywhere. So think about it, the more you watch TV, the fitter you’ll be.
Now if you are the kind of person who thinks listening to music is fun and you spend many hours alone tap tap tapping your fingers and your toes to the beat, why not take it one step further and get up on your feet and dance, dance, dance.
Or maybe you’re the type of person who prefers being with your friends. There are many ways one could have fun with their pals. For instance you could just hang out and do nothing or better yet you could get into a friendly game of basketball or football there is no rule that says everyone has to be as good as Yao Ming or David Beckham, right?
However sometimes there just aren’t enough players, or you may even be alone in which case you could go for a ride on your bike, maybe, stop by the library to borrow a book, or go for a walk around the park and enjoy the sunshine and scenery. Before you know it, you’re having fun.
Let’s face it, exercise is work and when we think of work we think of thankless underpaid hardships yet it needn’t be this way, if we think of exercise as fun.

As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Commi* for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragons tooth. This is a true story.
65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.
In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragons mouth.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.
When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was dee* touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct ones error.
Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Lets be honest people of good moral character.

Today is my two months and two days celebration of working in suntrans. This is my first job, and I am very glad tohave it, and to stand here sharing my feelings with all of you.
Today my topic is a little bit long, it is,the happy days of my dear little young fellows and me spent together in our companySuntrans. We had numerous happy days together, and every day is memorable. Itis so long that if I share every moment with you, this meeting may last three days or even longer. So in order to give us time to work, to eat, to go homeand to sleep, I will only share three most memorable moments we had together.
The first memorable moment for me was thecompany activity held in May by our human resources Department. We played games together and had a great time. That day was my 25th birthday, but that is not the most important reason whyI remember it so well. Smoking is a greater cause of death and disability than any single disease, says the World Health Organisation.
According to their figures, it is responsible for approximately five million deaths worldwide every year.
Tobacco smoking is a known or probable cause of approximately 25 diseases, and even the WHO says that its impact on world health is not fully assessed.

At first, you must understand the meaning of climate change. It means any long-term significant change in the average weather, which may include average temperature, precipitation, wind patterns and so on. Since the middle of the twentieth century, Australian temperatures have risen by about average one temperature degree with an increase in the frequency of heat waves and a decrease in the numbers of frosts and cold days. Rainfall patterns have also changed, which means that the northwest has seen an increase in rainfall over the last fifty years while much of eastern Australia and the far southwest have experienced a decline. From this example, it indicates climate change that is occurring today has sped up, and affects long-term weather. The Earth’s climate is largely affected by how much heat is stored in the atmosphere. Furthermore, the climate change is caused by dynamic process on Earth, external forces including variations in sunlight intensity, and more recently by human activities.
The most important reason of climate change is caused by humans, because humans produce a lot of carbon dioxide into the air. This carbon dioxide emits from fossil fuel, aerosols, cement manufacture, land use, animal agriculture and deforestation. For example, trees can take in carbon dioxide to produce oxygen by photosynthesis. If people cut many trees for making furniture, paper, or sell wood to make money, there is much more carbon dioxide in the air. Beginning with the industrial revolution in the nineteenth century and accelerating ever since, the human consumption of fossil fuels has raised carbon dioxide levels rapidly. It means that carbon dioxide levels are substantially higher now than before. On the other hand, during the procedure of manufacturing cement, which is used in buildings, significantly more carbon dioxide is produced. While people improve their living standard, they cause climate change. When people burn coal, oil, and gas for our electricity, carbon dioxide is produced. When people burn fossil fuel to move vehicles, carbon dioxide is also produced. These sorts of examples indicate that humans are the real culprit. They do not consider the consequence, while they enjoy producing every thing they want.
It is not just man-made pollution of the atmosphere which can cause climate change. Changes in the amount of carbon dioxide in the air have occurred naturally during the history of the Earth, leading to climate changes. When a volcano erupts, it releases huge amounts of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere. However, volcano eruptions cannot effect climate change. The main reason is that before the volcano erupts, it would release huge amount of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide for a very long time. This pollution injected into the air blocks out a lot of sunlight. Therefore, it can cause the Earth to cool over fewer years. For example, in April 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatoba, where is in the Philippine islands, emitted huge amounts of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide into the air. The movement of the Earth’s axis also affects climate change; it moves a little more than a half-degree each century. Other processes can change the Earth’s climate over millions of years. When not only continents move around the world, but also mountains ranges are built, the changing patterns of landmasses affect the way the heat in the atmosphere and in the oceans is stored. In addition, changes in the way ocean water circulates around the world can affect the climate, because the oceans store even more heat than the atmosphere. Once ocean currents change direction, slow down, or reverse, it has a significant impact on climate.
Climate change is mainly caused by carbon dioxide. This can be separated to two important parts: natural causes, and human causes. After we realise what the two important factors of climate change are, and what the climate change is, we could try to think of a more effective solution to solve the climate change problem to make a higher quality environment.

Friendship
Every one of us, rich or poor, should at least have one or two good friends. My friends will listen to me when I want to speak, will wipe my eyes when I cry, will take care of me when I am sick, and my friends will go together with me side by side through this journey of life.
As students, we could share more time with our friends. The friendship in our young hearts is pure, fresh and simple. I often feel very lucky to have a lot of good friends. Especially when I had Justin as one of my best friends. Justin was my English teacher from the USA. I met him in 1996 when I was a student who could only speak very little English. Justin was a vivid young man with a bright smile on his face, and he always had his special way to make the class active and attractive. He taught us English by telling stories, playing games, singing songs, and even dancing. I could still remember very clearly that one afternoon when we fin-ished our class, we went to some other classes to sing songs for them, just like what people do in the states on Christmas Eve. It was so interesting and unforgettable. Justin was an excellent teacher, because he taught us not only how to study English well, but also the way to find out the beauty of the world and the way to be angels to others' lives. I know there was friendship and pure love in our hearts. Facing this valuable emotion neither nationality nor age was important, the real importance lay in faith, under-standing, and care. Justin is the best friend I have ever had, and I know I will cherish those days of staying together with him as the best part of my memory.

练好基本功是学好英语的必要条件，没有扎实的英语基础，就谈不上继续学*，更谈不上有所成就。要想基本功扎实，必须全神贯注地认真听讲,上好每一节课，提高课堂效率，脚踏实地、一步一个脚印地，做到以下“五到”：
一、“心到”。在课堂上应聚精会神，一刻也不能懈怠，大脑要始终处于积极状态，思维要活跃、思路要开阔，心随老师走，听懂每一句话，抓住每一个环节，理解每一个知识点，多联想、多思考，做到心领神会。
二、“手到”。学英语，一定要做课堂笔记。因为人的记忆力是有限的，人不可能都过目不忘，记忆本身就是不断与遗忘作斗争的过程。常言说，“好脑筋不如烂笔头”。老师讲的知识可能在课堂上记住了，可是过了一段时间，就会忘记，所以，做好笔记很有必要。英语知识也是一点点积累起来的，学到的每一个单词、词组以及句型结构，都记在笔记本上，甚至是书的空白处或字里行间，这对以后的复*巩固都是非常方便的。
三、“耳到”。在课堂上，认真听讲是十分必要的，不但要专心听老师对知识
的讲解，而且要认真听老师说英语的语音、语调、重音、连读、失去爆破、断句等发音要领，以便培养自己纯正地道的英语口语。听见听懂老师传授的每一个知识点，在头脑里形成反馈以帮助记忆；理解领会老师提出的问题，以便迅速作答，对比同学对问题的回答，以加深对问题的理解而取别人之长补自己之短。
四、“眼到”。在认真听讲的同时，还要双眼紧随老师观察老师的动作、口形、表情、板书、绘图、教具展示等。大脑里形成的视觉信息和听觉信息相结合，印象就会更加深刻。
五、“口到”。英语是一门语言，不张嘴不动口是学不好的，同学们最大的毛病是读书不出声，害羞不敢张嘴。尤其是早读课，起始年级时,学生对英语课有新鲜感,积极性比较高,早读课是“书声琅琅”。逐渐地,到了高年级,他们就只用眼看、手写。早读课都快变成“鸦雀无声”的书写自*课了。同学们只是用眼看或默读，这样就只有视觉信息，而没有听觉信息在大脑里的反馈，当然记忆也不会太深刻，口部肌肉也得不到锻炼，也就很难练就一口纯正的英语。这样下去直接影响着早读的效果,也就不能有效地促进英语的学*、巩固和提高。这也是部分学生掉队、放弃学*英语的`关键环节,
同学们讨厌背书有以下正当理由：第一、课文很难背；第二，背完就忘；第三、总是没时间背；第四、背完对考试帮助不大。这些理由都是充分的！然而这些问题都是由于没有良好的学*方式和*惯造成的。在中国学*语言最好的、最先进的方法就是多读：第一，书读百遍，其意自见。第二，熟读唐诗三百首，不会作诗也会吟。第三，读书破万卷，下笔如有神。我相信，大家都知道这些名言，但是没有几个人能做到！所以，成功的人永远是少数！

最后我想说：做教师，我无悔！做英语教师，我快乐！

各位评委、各位老师：
大家好！
我竞聘的岗位是初中英语教师岗位，竞聘这一岗位的理由如下：
一、思想政治方面
本人热爱祖国、热爱人民、拥护***的领导，忠诚党的教育事业。
二、职业道德方面
严格履行中小学教师职业道德规范，为人师表，严格遵守岗位制度，严格恪守人民教师的职业道德，积极参加公益事业。
三、业务方面
从教多年来，从未间断过继续教育学*，取得了英语本科学历，计算机甲级乙等，县、市级骨干教师培训证，英特尔教师培训证等。
四、教育教学工作能力
1、胜任英语教学工作，在联考中我所任教班级的英语成绩名列前茅；曾在全县初三英语教师会上做了经验交流；先后三次参加通化县区域教研教改公开课，受到同行们的好评，并被教师进修学校授予“课改优质课”的光荣称号。
2、胜任班主任工作，特别是转变脏乱差班级的管理方面，取得了极大的成绩，被评为市级优秀教师。
3、胜任教研组长工作，能够协调好领导和老师之间的关系，团结协作，做好教研组长工作。历年来我们组都是第一个开展教研课，各顶活动都走在最前面，得到上级领导的肯定，多次被评为优秀教师。
4、跟据自已的教学实践，本人撰写了《“争鸣法”在农村中学复*测试中的运用》、《英语教学中的“画龙点睛”》、《采用任务型教学让学生感受成功》等等。
5、尽管我是从教多年的英语教师，有着一定的工作经验和成绩，但我绝不会满足于已取得的微薄成绩，我会竭尽全力把学生教好，将英语教学搞好。
综上所述，本人符合竞聘中学英语教师岗位所具备的条件和素质，故向各位评委和老师提出申请。
如果我能够竞聘上这个岗位，我打算从以下几个方面改进自已的教学工作，提高自已的教学水*。
