It is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful Saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the English language.
About a year and a half ago, I took part in my very first English Speech Contest. When I stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, I could hardly speak. I stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. My fears had paralyzed me.
While my passion for English has never changed, I lost my courage to speak in public. When my professor again encouraged me to take part in this Competition, I said “no.” I couldn’t endure yet another painful experience. He looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart. I will never forget his words. “Look,” he said, “We all have our fears, and you have yours. You could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again. Running away can never dispel your fears, but action will. A winner is not one who never fails，but one who never quits.”
I spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind. Then I made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: I would face my fears – and take part in the competition!
As it turned out, my dear old professor was right. Now, here I am, once again standing before a microphone. My heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, I have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference!

I often wonder what friendship is. Friendship is too big a topic to talk about either specifically or generally. I guemost of us are still in a puzzling state about what friendship is, and I myself should be included. I have had friends since I was born, some of whom have come along with me through my life, and it is impossible to always keep your friends around you since departure is one part of life that everybody must experience. Though some of you may oppose me by exaggerating the connotation of the concept of being together that is friends may not stay together physically but they can stay together always psychologically,
I still hold that departure is an absolute thing. How could it be possible that your friend (even your closest friend) always keeps you in heart as he/she had, is having and will have different experiences from yours? Somehow different experiences make up of different hearts. Man’s heart is a quite strange thing. Never think that one can wholly touch it. Sometimes our heart is so abstract that you don’t even know how to get to them. If we take heart as a cube, and closest friend a gentle breeze, this breeze can only blow one facet of this cube from one direction and can rarely reach any other sides of your heart. I’m not sure whether I have put it very clearly but believe me that there are no fixed closest friend in your life. With different time, place, space, emotion and situation, you have different closest friends. When I play basketball, I have a closest friend who knows how to cooperate with me and together give our opponents a deadly attack; when I am alone and feel so lonely, I have a friend who can always comfort me by saying that he is my friend; when I am in need of money, the one who comes all the way and lend his money to me without any hesitation is my closest friend;

when i was young, i used to be very naughty. life then was like a glaball ,shining with bright colours. i had once gone down to the river bank, catching a great many worms and was afterwards punished by mum. i had ever cut the pillow towel into pieces in order to make clothes for my dolls. similarly, i was then blamed seriously. once i even put the hot iron on the floor which immediately burnt a big hole on the carpet. although i had done so many annoying things, my childhood seemed to be rather colourful. however, i had never had a clear definition about myself. but then something happened. it had made a great difference to my life and made who i am now.
i had always been afraid of having the intravenous drop in hospital. the first time i was taken to have the drop, i cried for almost half an hour and finally gave off at father's severe scolding. watching the cold needle stabbing into my skin, i cried even more loudly. at that time, i never dared to take a glance at my hand and always needed my mother to stay with me at my side. even if mum had told me many times," honey, there’s nothing to be scared of. just close your eyes and sleep." i would still keep my eyes wide open, watching the liquid flow through the bottle and never slept.

About a year and a half ago, I took part in my very first English Speech Contest. When I stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, I could hardly speak. I stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. My fears had paralyzed me.
While my passion for English has never changed, I lost my courage to speak in public. When my professor again encouraged me to take part in this Competition, I said “no.” I couldn’t endure yet another painful experience. Today I am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. What is success? It is what everyone is longing times success would be rather simple. Winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now I am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success.
However, as a person’s whole life is concerned, success becomes very complicated. Is fortune success? Is fame success? Is high social status success? No, I don’t think so. I believe success is the realization of people’ s hopes and days, in the modern society there are many people who are regarded as the successful. And the most obvious characteristics of hem are money, high position and luxurious life. So most people believe that s success and all that they do is for this purpose. But the problem is wether it is real success. We all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. If we keep chasing them, where is the end? What will satisfy us at last? Therefore, we can see, to get the real Success we must need something inside, which is the realization of people’ hopes and ideals.
Different people have different ideas about success; cause people’s hopes and ideas vary from one another. But I am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. These are the best treasures. So now I am very proud that I have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. It is my success, cause I raise up to challenge my hope.

when i was young, i used to be very naughty. life then was like a glaball ,shining with bright colours. i had once gone down to the river bank, catching a great many worms and was afterwards punished by mum. i had ever cut the pillow towel into pieces in order to make clothes for my dolls. similarly, i was then blamed seriously. once i even put the hot iron on the floor which immediately burnt a big hole on the carpet. although i had done so many annoying things, my childhood seemed to be rather colourful. however, i had never had a clear definition about myself. but then something happened. it had made a great difference to my life and made who i am now.
i had always been afraid of having the intravenous drop in hospital. the first time i was taken to have the drop, i cried for almost half an hour and finally gave off at fathers severe scolding. watching the cold needle stabbing into my skin, i cried even more loudly. at that time, i never dared to take a glance at my hand and always needed my mother to stay with me at my side. even if mum had told me many times," honey, there’s nothing to be scared of. just close your eyes and sleep." i would still keep my eyes wide open, watching the liquid flow through the bottle and never slept.
since then, i became stronger. as you see now, standing in front of you is a confident and sunny girl. in my grown-up life, ive never cried for being injured no matter how serious it is. i can even go to the hospital alone when mum and dad are on business. i came acroso many difficulties in life, while ive never thought of giving up. thanks to that extraordinary experience at my age of ten, i discovered a person inside myself who has been so important and unique to me. just like what dad had told me before, "people are like tea bags—you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are."

我最喜欢的一段是“三打白骨精”，它主要讲的内容是：有一天，唐僧师徒四人来到白骨精的洞口，白骨精知道吃了唐僧肉，可以长生不老，但又看见悟空、八戒和沙僧守在唐僧身边，于是她就想出了变身的'办法去骗唐僧。她先用两种变身来到唐僧面前，但都被悟空识破了。当她最后一次变身的时候，悟空便把她打死了。
我觉得悟空他非常善良，也非常有责任心，而且他也很勇敢，尽管他知道唐僧会念紧箍咒，但为了唐僧的安全，他还是打死了白骨精。我觉得悟空、沙僧和八戒他们三人都很坚强勇敢，也很会积极地想办法去面对这些困难，打败这些妖精，帮助唐僧顺利地去西天取经。读了这本书，我要向他们学*，以后要更加坚强勇敢，也要积极地去想办法，解决生活和学*中的问题。

相反的.，正如我们熟知的林肯先生，在遭受24岁经商失败，26岁爱人死去，27岁精神崩溃，中年时代多次竞选参议员和副总统，却均以失败告终，可面对如此多的打击与磨难，他始终没有放弃自己的梦想，而是以积极的生活态度应对这些不如意，最终他成为美国第十六任总统，正是这积极乐观的生活态度，让林肯最终实现自己的理想。
相信，假若没有积极乐观的生活态度，摔残肢体的桑兰，高位截肢的张海迪，生命中没有光明与黑暗的海伦凯勒，他们同样不会有灿烂的人生，也就不会赢得世人的尊重与赞美。
亲爱的朋友们，虽然我们无法预知下一秒会发生怎样的事情，但相信只要我们持一种积极乐观的生活态度，我们的生活将一直是快乐的。所以，即使有一千个理由哭泣，也要为自己找出一万个理由微笑，这样，我们的生活就会充满更多的阳光和快乐。

中华民族自古以来都是一个讲究品德教育、个人修养的民族，一种执着的追求，一次慰藉人心的宽容微笑都能融汇成美德赞颂曲上，一个个动人心弦的音符。
千百年来的文明礼仪之风传承至今，因此我国向来就有“文明古国”之称。一个素质高、有教养的现代文明人，必须有良好的礼仪文明。文明礼仪处处可见，这些利益就常常发生在我们身边的小事中，但往往被我们所忽略。
当你向老师、长辈和客人彬彬有礼地问好的时候;当你向有困难的同学伸出援助之手的时候;当你学会向父母表达自己的一份孝心的时候;当你学会珍惜每一粒粮食的时候;当你学会“宽于待人，严于律己”的时候;当你敢于承认自己的错误的时候;当你志存高远而又脚踏实地的时候??你所做的一切，不都是在承继和弘扬中华美德和民族精神吗?
鲁迅曾说过：“中国欲存争于天下，其首在立人，人立而后凡举。”所以首先要完善个人修养，人的文明修养并不是与生俱来的，而是靠后天不断完善的。
文明美德就如一泓清泉可以为我们滋润心灵，给予我们心灵的`慰藉。
前进的路已经为我们铺好，下一步，就是要我们顽强的走下去，事在人为，我们首先就是要具备中学生的美德，具备我们中华民族的美德，没有美德的人，不算高尚，别让陋*沾染如花的青春，更别让陋*陪伴你度过最美好的人生!让我们的校园从此绽放美丽，让我们的社会迸发出文明的火花，让我们拥抱文明，和美德手拉手，结伴同行!

终于，在众人的努力下，那张纸乖乖地就范了。那个追到纸的人，得意地将战利品递给女孩。女孩优雅地向大家道谢，然后拿着纸在众目睽睽之下走到一个垃圾筒跟前，将它塞了进去，回过身，她微笑着对大家说：“好了，现在它终于去了它该去的`地方。”
故事讲到这里，也许你会诧异于女孩的举动，也许你会怀疑于故事的真实。好了，先放下这些都不说，同学们，让我们闭上眼睛一同想象：在我们的周围，在我们的身边，是否有垃圾从同学的手中滑落，成为路面上醒目的感叹号？是否有随手丢弃的塑料袋在风中“翩翩起舞”？是否会在厕所洁白的墙壁上看到几个刺眼的脚印？
同样的，在你的周围，是否有人大声叫嚷，让你的耳膜阵阵发聋?是否有人口出脏话，污言秽语，招来人们鄙视的目光?是否有人唏嘘起哄，吹口哨，叫人不可思议，令人费解？

大家好！今天我演讲的题目是“磨难也是一种财富”。
在高考中有位考生写过这样一段话：我曾经埋怨过，脚底发黄的布鞋，踏不出青春的活力，直到我发觉霍金转动的轮椅，嵌出深深的历史痕迹；我曾咒骂过，脸边黝黑的胎记，映不出美丽的脸庞，直到我看见全身黝黑的黑人，露出甜甜的美丽微笑。
也许你曾抱怨过上帝是捉弄人的，他对你吝啬幸福，却让痛苦折磨着你，日日夜夜，疲惫不堪，换来的只是滚烫的泪珠。但苦尽甘来后，当你揭开那沉重的幕纱，你会看清，上帝是公*的，磨难也是一种财富。
曾经有人做了一个试验。他点清了一座山林中的红羊后，把山中的狼全部捕捉起来，让红羊没有敌人。照理说，红羊应该是悠闲自得、快乐地生活了，但事与愿违，红羊为了争夺一小片土地、甚至一棵青草而搏斗，由原来一支整齐的队伍变为一盘散沙。
经过搏斗的红羊一只只疲惫不堪，过去那种矫健、奔跑如飞的红羊在这座山林中再未曾出现过，而且，红羊的.数量也在逐渐减少。是什么原因呢？
因为人们捕获了狼，红羊没有了给它们造成生命威胁的动物，而自相残杀直至消亡，失去了危机。同时也失去了生机。可见，在生态环境中，没有磨难就不会有生态*衡的系统。
张海迪胸部以下失去知觉，但这些困难反而使她有了更为远大的目标，学*掌握了德语、日语、英语。她为什么能取得常人都不容易取得的成就呢？因为她在承受巨大挫折的同时，也将挫折化为了动力，让挫折成为自己的奴隶，再一次战胜了磨难。
人生如一块璞玉，这是上帝赐予你最大的财富，这块璞玉中有着酸甜苦辣，也许痛苦过后便是幸福，这是上帝给予你最大的机遇。只有自己努力来雕琢这块璞玉，才能使它成为完美无瑕的艺术品。
同学们，当你遇到挫折、困难时，不妨想想，上帝是公*的，有时磨难也是一种财富。

“我命由我不由天”我想这是一句许多人都十分喜欢的名句吧。的确我们美好的未来是要我们自己用我们自己的`汗水去创造的，正如《学会改变命运》中的那句话一般“今天我们含泪播种，明天欢呼收获。”
从古到今人们创造了许许多多自我鼓舞的名句，如“人定胜天”、“勤奋出人才”、“有付出才有回报”等等，的确改变命运的方法有许多种，但这些方法如果少了一个坚定不移的信念，就会变成空谈。
神秘的复活节岛的石像，它们经历过千年风雨的洗礼，是信念让它们笑对世间仓桑，是执着让它们屹立不倒。
人生就像一盘棋局，你想要杀的精彩，就要敢于落子。我们的幻想毫无价值，我们的计划渺如尘埃，只有我们的行动才能改变一切。
要实现一个远大目标的方法就是“从洗第一个盘子开始”。古语有云“欲速则不达”，也对一口起吃不了一个胖子，不要着急妄想把目标一下子完成，那么只会使你手足无措，最后只会一事无成。对于那些远大的目标，我个人认为我们无须太着急，只要一步步走下去，一不一个脚印，自然会水到渠成的。

德摩斯梯尼天生就是一个声音微弱、吐字不清而又气喘的人，(可以想象，他真是可怜!)尤其是“r”这个字母，他怎么说也说不清楚，而且他的发音比刚学会说话的小孩还更糟糕!
据说，他为了克服这些唇齿上的缺陷，便把石头含在嘴里不断的练*发音，他站在海边练*，想把滔滔波浪喊得*静下来，你们说他变态吧?
当他站在台上面对听众演讲时，他经历了无数次的失败，尤其是在他第一次尝试演讲时，他的语句全混乱了，听众们都放声大笑。为了提高自己演讲能力，他特意挖了一个地洞，每天在里面练*他的声音，和演说的姿势，他还将自己的头发剃去了半边，以此来控制自己想上街的'欲望。德摩斯梯尼的坚持终于取得了成果，他成为了自古以来古希腊最伟大的演说家之一。
这个故事告诉我们，一个人的缺陷有时就是上苍给他的成功信息的暗示，一个人的弱点可以成为他一生中的激励因素，也可成为你消沉胆怯的借口。当德摩斯梯尺在含小石子时，当他在海边、在洞坑里的时候，心里肯定依旧在想，我要变态!我要超越常人状态，在几十年后，他将会说：“如此的这种的变态，怎么可能不成功?!
爱迪生在发明灯泡的过程中，经历了1万多次的失败，;可口可乐公司开张第一年反销出了400瓶可口可乐;创立迪士尼乐园的沃乐特迪士尼在报社工作曾以“缺乏创意”被开除;超级球星乔丹曾被所在的中学篮球球队除名;瑞弗.约翰逊，十项全能的冠军，有一只脚先天畸形。
当他们完成了各项伟业的时候，他们一定会说：如此的这种变态，怎么可能不成功?!
