It is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful Saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the English language.
About a year and a half ago, I took part in my very first English Speech Contest. When I stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, I could hardly speak. I stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. My fears had paralyzed me.
While my passion for English has never changed, I lost my courage to speak in public. When my professor again encouraged me to take part in this Competition, I said “no.” I couldn’t endure yet another painful experience. He looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart. I will never forget his words. “Look,” he said, “We all have our fears, and you have yours. You could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again. Running away can never dispel your fears, but action will. A winner is not one who never fails，but one who never quits.”
I spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind. Then I made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: I would face my fears – and take part in the competition!
As it turned out, my dear old professor was right. Now, here I am, once again standing before a microphone. My heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, I have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference!

three year ago, i weighed more than 100 hundred kilograms which caused significant embarrassment and frustration in my life. like always failing my p.e examinations, like always being laughed at by girls, like being terrified to speak in public. it was my grandmother’s encouragement that revived from my passive attitude to become confident in myself. she said “ my dear, if you can’t change you figure, why not treat it as your own style. so i began to cautiously employ the new way of thinking. by choosing to change my outlook on life, i developed the confidence to make a difference and finally i found a totally new world.

It is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful Saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the English language.
About a year and a half ago, I took part in my very first English Speech Contest. When I stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, I could hardly speak. I stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. My fears had paralyzed me.
While my passion for English has never changed, I lost my courage to speak in public. When my professor again encouraged me to take part in this Competition, I said “no.” I couldn’t endure yet another painful experience. He looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart. I will never forget his words. “Look,” he said, “We all have our fears, and you have yours. You could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again. Running away can never dispel your fears, but action will. A winner is not one who never fails，but one who never quits.”
I spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind. Then I made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: I would face my fears – and take part in the competition!
As it turned out, my dear old professor was right. Now, here I am, once again standing before a microphone. My heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, I have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference!

when i was young, i used to be very naughty. life then was like a glaball ,shining with bright colours. i had once gone down to the river bank, catching a great many worms and was afterwards punished by mum. i had ever cut the pillow towel into pieces in order to make clothes for my dolls. similarly, i was then blamed seriously. once i even put the hot iron on the floor which immediately burnt a big hole on the carpet. although i had done so many annoying things, my childhood seemed to be rather colourful. however, i had never had a clear definition about myself. but then something happened. it had made a great difference to my life and made who i am now.
i had always been afraid of having the intravenous drop in hospital. the first time i was taken to have the drop, i cried for almost half an hour and finally gave off at father's severe scolding. watching the cold needle stabbing into my skin, i cried even more loudly. at that time, i never dared to take a glance at my hand and always needed my mother to stay with me at my side. even if mum had told me many times," honey, there’s nothing to be scared of. just close your eyes and sleep." i would still keep my eyes wide open, watching the liquid flow through the bottle and never slept.

When I walked into the cover letter middle school auditorium along with the crowd, I saw the familiar faces -- my classmates. They each person's face is permeated with the sense of excitement, may be because the long-expected festival had finally arrived!
After long prologue in school, we began our festival finally!

I am glad to be here to share my opinions with all of you. My topic today is about Internet.
With the development of technology more and more people are fond of using Internet. It is particularly popular among young people. Just like the coin has two sides internet also has its own advantages and disadvantages.
First of all the Internet has brought people great convenience in getting information entertainment and contact with each other. As for our students it is a useful tool when we meet problems. When we are tired a piece of light music will help us relax. If we have free time we can enjoy movies or interesting cartoons. What’s more we can also watch live programs on the internet or see it later if we are not available at that time.
But there is also bad influence. Some of the young teenagers are addicted to computer games and some even play games all night. Because of lacking in sleep those students can not focus on in the class . As a result they may fail in the exam. When they realize it is wrong to spend too much time playing games it’s already too late.
I have remembered such a piece of news . An excellent student flunked (考试不及格) because he could not concentrate on his study for being too indulged in computer games. He spent nearly all the money on games which was earned by his father's selling blood. When his father knelt down to beg him to return to school he was too numb to show any regret.
The most serious harm of computer games come from their contents which affects teenagers ' mental health. Many games involve violence such as fighting and killing. When they enjoy the pleasure of success a violent turn of mind is developed and rooted in them which may induce future violent behaviour in their life.
So when computers' entertaining function is highly spoken of such a problem does deserve our serious concern.
In addition long time's working before computer also does harm to health. The radiation from the computer can arose many uncomfortable feelings. like a headache poor eyesight.
At last people who are fond of making friends on line should also be careful. Many convicts use Internet as a way to cheat. Although it has many disadvantages Internet has become an indispensable part of people's life in recent years. I often wonder what friendship is. Friendship is too big a topic to talk about either specifically or generally. I guemost of us are still in a puzzling state about what friendship is, and I myself should be included. If we take heart as a cube, and closest friend a gentle breeze, this breeze can only blow one facet of this cube from one direction and can rarely reach any other sides of your heart. I’m not sure whether I have put it very clearly but believe me that there are no fixed closest friend in your life. With different time, place, space, emotion and situation, you have different closest friends. 在科技飞跃进展的当今社会，车流量相当的多。可能只是一时疏忽，就将酿成大祸。记得四年级的时候，我们班的肖蕾就在十字路口上被一辆飞驰而过的面包车撞上。当时，我虽然没能目睹。但通过同学们的描述，这事有多可怕，她和几个同学一起走来上学的途中，肖蕾冲在最前头，在红灯的时候冲向人行道后来，这时就发生了那惨烈的一幕。肖蕾因为车祸将*半年没来上学。不幸中的'万幸是肖蕾只是骨折。但她也因此耽误了学业。肖蕾的是告诉我们一定不能闯红灯！ 同样是闯红灯，这位同学就没那么幸运了。放学时，一位孩子，和另外一个伙伴打闹中不慎闯了红灯，其中一位被开来的大货车撞倒在地，司机没有发现，从那个小孩的身上活生生地压过去。导致儿童当场毙命。
一幕幕悲惨的事件发生，一碗的数据触目惊心。我不由感叹：交通事故是那么可怕，一刹那间，就夺走了人的生命。现在路上的车辆越来越多，马路越来越拥挤，同时交通事故也越来越多，每年，有多少的生命被夺走，有多少个家庭被破坏，有多少人要失去亲人了。如果我们每个人心中都有交通规则，每个人都能自觉遵守交通规则……

大家好！今天我演讲的题目是《改变不了环境，就改变自己》。
著名的文学家托尔斯泰曾经说过：世界上只有两种人：一种是观望者，一种是行动者。大多数人想改变这个世界，但是没人想改变自己。想要改变现状，就要改变自己；要改变自己。就得改变自己的观念。一切成就，都是从正确的观念开始的。一连串的失败，也都是从错误的'观念开始的。要适应社会，适应环境，适应变化，就要学会改变自己。
柏拉图告诉弟—子自己能够移山，弟—子们纷纷请教方法，柏拉图笑道，说：很简单，山若不过来，我就过去。弟—子们一片哗然。
这个世界上根本就没有移山之术，唯一的一个移动山的方法就是：山不过来，我便过去。同样的道理，人不能改变环境，那么我们就要改变自己。
一个黑人小孩在他父亲的葡萄酒厂看守橡木桶。每天早上，他用抹布将一个个木桶擦干净，然后一排排地整齐地放好。令他生气的是，往往一夜之间，风就把他排列整齐的木桶吹得东倒西歪。
小男孩很委屈地哭了。父亲摸着小男孩的头说：孩子，不要哭，我们可以想办法去征服风。
于是小男孩擦干了眼泪坐在木桶边想啊想，想了半天终于想出了一个办法，他从井边挑来一桶又一桶的清水，然后把它们倒进那些空空的橡木桶里，然后他就忐忑不安地回家睡觉了。第二天，天刚蒙蒙亮，小男孩就匆匆地爬了起来，他跑到放桶的地方一看，那些橡木桶一个一个排列得整整齐齐，没有一个被风吹倒的，也没有一个被风吹歪的。小男孩开心地笑了，他对父亲说：要想木桶不被风吹倒，就要加重木桶的重量。男孩的父亲赞许地微笑了。
是的，我们不能改变风，改变不了这个这个世界上的许多东西，但我们可以改变自己，给自己加重，这样我们就可以适应变化，不被打败！
在威斯敏斯特教堂地下室里，英国圣公会主教的墓碑上写着这样一段话：当我年轻自由的时候，我的想象力没有任何局限，我梦想改变这个世界。当我渐渐成熟明智的时候，我发现这个世界是不可改变的，于是我将眼光放得短浅了一些，那就只改变我的国家吧！但我的国家似乎也是我无法改变的。当我到了迟暮之年，抱着最后一丝努力的希望，我决定只改变我的家庭、我最亲*的人。但，唉！他们根本不接受改变。现在我在临终之际，我才突然意识到：如果起初我只改变自己，接着我就可以依次改变我的家人。然后，在他们的激发与鼓励下，我也许能改变我的国家。再接下来，谁又知道呢，也许我连整个世界都可以改变。
人生如水，人只能去适应环境。如果不能改变环境，就改变自己，只有这样，才能克服更多的困难，战胜更多的挫折，实现自我。如果不能看到自己的缺点与不足，只是一味地埋怨环境不利，从而把改变境遇的希望寄托在改变环境上，这实在是徒劳无益。
虽然我们不能改变世界，但是我们可以改变自己，让我们用爱心与智慧来面对一切环境。

在我的脑海中，有许多名言警句，令我印象最深的就是——“站在岸上学不会游泳。”这句话语文老师经常对我们说，从而希望我们多实践，学到真本领。
是呀，只有亲身实践，才能学到真正的本领。哪有一个人生下来就会游泳的?哪有人学游泳不被水呛到的?做任何事情不经一番磨练是很难成功的，只要你认定目标，坚持不懈，成功源于一颗不屈不挠的心。
就拿我来说吧，有一年，我们全家人在看杨丽萍阿姨跳的舞蹈《雀之恋》，我瞬间被吸引住了。便和妈妈说：“妈妈，我也要学舞蹈。”以后我天天在嘀咕“学舞蹈”“学舞蹈”，但一直没有去真正练*过。当我听到老师说的“站在岸上学不会游泳”时，我央求妈妈给我报舞蹈班。之后，我与心仪的舞蹈有了第一次接触，虽然没有我想象的那么简单，就连压腿这样的基本功我曾经流过泪，但我没有放弃，经过几年的付出，我能登台演出，并参加了许多比赛，成了名副其实的.“小舞蹈家”了。

你看，那开阔的河面，犹如千万匹被风吹动的绸缎，水中的鱼儿成群结队，慢慢的'吐着小水泡，摇着尾巴嬉戏玩耍，一只只小鸭子拍着水花，时而潜入水中，时而浮出水面，他们为了表达自己心中的欢乐，还不时的引颈高歌，好象在唱：“春天来了春天来了！”难怪古诗云：“春江水暖鸭先知。”
“一年之记在于春”。田边地头，农民伯伯们正在辛勤的松土、播种、浇水

这本书里的知识真是应有尽有!有“文明古国”、“ 礼仪之邦”、“ 我的祖国真伟大”、“ 做祖国的好孩子”、“ 我有好*惯”……其中给我印象最深刻的是“诚实守信人人敬”这一课。
你知道吗?古时候，中国店铺的门口，一般都写着“货真价实，童叟无欺”八个字。自古在商品买卖中，就提倡“公*交易，诚实待客，不欺诈、不作假”的行业道德。在当代中国，这种诚实守信的美德必须要传承下来，并且要发扬得更好这才算我们中国人的骄傲呀!我骄傲，我的姑父就是有着诚实美德的好商人。这种美德表现在工作和学*上，就是专心致志、认真踏实、实事求是。我骄傲，我们的语文老师郑老师就是认认真真教书的'一位好老师。这种美德表现在人际交往中，就人与人之间多些信赖，少些欺诈。我骄傲，我的爷爷就是这样一位好人，他有这样一句口头禅“这世人还是好人多呀”。
读了这本书后，我对“一言既出，驷马难追”有了更深刻的感悟。在我的家里妈妈是一位“言出必行”的人，爸爸则是有时候要反悔的人。由此，我懂得了一个道理，在答应别人做什么事情之前，一定要三思，因为有些事情已经超出你的能力范围，或者是你并不是很愿意去做的，所以你也就可能做不到“言出必行”了。只有这样，我们才能真正做“一言既出，驷马难追”。

与其他作家一样，年轻的罗琳酷爱写作，是一个天真浪漫、充满幻想的英语教师。幸福的.家庭，称心的工作都足以让罗琳满足。可没想到，甜蜜的家庭、美满的婚姻与理想的工作在一瞬间变成了昨日云烟。丈夫离她而去，工作没有了，居无定所，身无分文，再加上嗷嗷等哺的女儿，罗琳一下子变得穷困潦倒。但是，家庭与事业的失败并没有打消罗琳写作的积极性，用她自己的话说：“或许是为了完成多年的梦想，或许是为了排遣心中的不快，也或许是为了每晚能把自己编的故事讲给女儿听。”她成天不停地写呀写，有时为了省钱省电，她甚至呆在咖啡馆里写上一天。就这样，第一本《哈利波特》诞生了。然而，罗琳向出版社推荐这本书的时候，却遭到了一次又一次的拒绝，没有谁对这本写给孩子的童话书感兴趣。可罗琳并不气馁，直到英国学者出版社出版了第一本《哈利波特》创下了出版界的奇迹，被翻成35种语言在115个国家与地区发行，引起了全世界的轰动。
罗琳成功了，可谁又知道，这成功的背后包含着多少辛勤的汗水与艰难。同学们，这个故事让我们看出：成功的道路并不是一帆风顺，但只要我们有信心、有热情、有目标、能够持之以恒地坚持努力，成功就会一步一步向我们走来。

新的学年开始了，班里都是陌生的面孔，而我也是努力的想尽快融入这个班级。
今天，新的班主任来到班后，宣布了要竞选班长的事情，我听了心里十分激动，因为我也想竞选班长，但是竞选班长要经过一个很重要的.环节，那就是现在讲台上演讲，这对我来说决定是一个很大的挑战。
我从小就是一个胆怯的孩子，特别在人多的时候，更不敢说话，如今却要在班里学生面前演讲，我咬了咬牙，还是把自己的名字报了上去，拼了，不管结局怎么样，只要自己努力了就行。
在忐忑不安中，轮到我上台了，我手心里都是汗，快步走向讲台后，当面对全班同学的时候，我的脑子一片空白，好长时间才缓过来，脑子昏昏沉沉的，也不知道自己结结巴巴的说了些什么，就走下讲台了。
虽然我不知道结果会怎么样，但是这的确对自己是一个锻炼。

春风吹来，划下了弧线；太阳来过，留下了暖意，英雄走过，刻下了丰功伟绩。荡着涟漪的水花证明风儿的存在，火中送炭似的窝心暖诠释太阳的温度，更有山脚的松柏来阐述山的高耸，然而像空气走过不留影，像飞蛾扑火那样忘我的民族英雄们呢？他们默默地付出、奉献，那种精神时而似山涧清泉的轻柔又时而似李白庐山瀑布般的汇腾。
崎岖坎坷的历史回味着，像吃着青涩的橄榄，虽苦，但苦中透酸，酸中又掺杂着甜，越嚼越有滋味，这正是所谓的`苦尽甘来。
看那一张张咧嘴的笑脸，脸上都洋溢着幸福，那悠久的历史和灿烂的文化散发着鲜血般的红色光芒，是先烈们用鲜血换来的，他们用自我完成了大业，用宝贵的生命去换回今天的胜利，他们用血妆点了大地，才有缤纷的万物，更汇集了江海湖泊，他们行军的脚印转眼成了低谷盆地，他们扛枪的臂膀撑开了天地，他们刚硬的身躯坐落，成为高山峻岭，无处不留下他们的身影与足迹，我们为他们呕歌、赞美。
然而，那些无法忘却的历史，那些悲壮的画面，时常浮现在脑海，无法言喻的激动化作两行热泪一涌而出。回想黄继光挺身而出，用坚实的胸脯抵挡了来势汹汹的子弹；邱少云纹丝不动，让那熊熊烈火也退却了三分；王二小的机智勇敢、刘胡兰的宁死不屈，还有那千千万万的劳动人民。他们血杀敌人，他们响亮的名字震惊了敌人，他们可贵的精神又移向胜利的一步。
