There are many factors that can contribute to a person’s success in life. It is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful Saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the English language.
About a year and a half ago, I took part in my very first English Speech Contest. When I stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, I could hardly speak. I stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. My fears had paralyzed me.
While my passion for English has never changed, I lost my courage to speak in public. When my professor again encouraged me to take part in this Competition, I said “no.” I couldn’t endure yet another painful experience. He looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart. I will never forget his words. “Look,” he said, “We all have our fears, and you have yours. You could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again. Running away can never dispel your fears, but action will. A winner is not one who never fails，but one who never quits.”
I spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind. Then I made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: I would face my fears – and take part in the competition!
As it turned out, my dear old professor was right. Now, here I am, once again standing before a microphone. My heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, I have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference!

过了一会儿，游客们来啦!我微笑地上了摄像机的镜头。咦?那些白色的漂浮物是什么?原来是刚才那位游客丢下的垃圾!几位游客经他一动员，也跟着丢了起来。就这样一个接一个，我开始厌倦人们再来这里，因为我再也不是那条人见人爱的湖了!
渐渐地，我的脸越来越脏，身上清香的气息也越来越淡，变成了一股恶臭，工作人员也不见了，恐怕是不想和我呆在一起吧!
我伤心的流着泪，对自己的卫生彻底绝望了，就在我失声痛哭之时，一位身穿环卫工人的服饰的老爷爷来了，他不怕脏，不怕累，慢慢地清理着，用网捞，捞不到多少，下手捡，也捡不了多少。可他不管效率多么低，可他仍在坚持，过了一会儿，我恢复了原来的面貌，那位老爷爷也会心的笑了。

这一个世界上根本就没有移山之术，唯一的一个移动山的方法就是：山不过来，我便过去。同样的道理，人不能改变环境，那么我们就要改变自己。
一个黑人小孩在他父亲的葡萄酒厂看守橡木桶。每天早上，他用抹布将一个个木桶擦干净，然后一排排地整齐地放好。令他生气的是，往往一夜之间，风就把他排列整齐的木桶吹得东倒西歪。
小男孩很委屈地哭了。父亲摸着小男孩的头说：“孩子，不要哭，我们可以想办法去征服风。”
于是小男孩擦干了眼泪坐在木桶边想啊想，想了半天终于想出了一个办法，他从井边挑来一桶又一桶的清水，然后把它们倒进那些空空的橡木桶里，然后他就忐忑不安地回家睡觉了。第二天，天刚蒙蒙亮，小男孩就匆匆地爬了起来，他跑到放桶的地方一看，那些橡木桶一个一个排列得整整齐齐，没有一个被风吹倒的，也没有一个被风吹歪的。小男孩开心地笑了，他对父亲说：“要想木桶不被风吹倒，就要加重木桶的重量。”男孩的父亲赞许地微笑了。

相反的,正如我们熟知的林肯先生,在遭受24岁经商失败,26岁爱人死去,27岁精神崩溃,中年时代多次竞选参议员和副总统,却均以失败告终,可面对如此多的打击与磨难,他始终没有放弃自己的梦想,而是以积极的生活态度应对这些不如意,最终他成为美国第十六任总统,正是这积极乐观的生活态度,让林肯最终实现自己的理想。
相信,假若没有积极乐观的生活态度,摔残肢体的桑兰,高位截肢的张海迪,生命中没有光明与黑暗的海伦—凯勒,他们同样不会有灿烂的人生,也就不会赢得世人的尊重与赞美。

《清稗类钞·敬信类》中记载了这样一个故事：一个叫蔡嶙的人向一位朋友借了一千两黄金，没打借条。不多年，朋友去世了，他就把朋友的儿子叫到家，把一千两黄金还给他。但朋友的儿子很惊愕，坚决不受，笑道：“没有这回事，父亲没有留给我借条，也没有口头告诉我有这事。”蔡嶙说：“借条就在我心里，不在纸上，心中的诚信才是根本，你父亲知道我是个讲诚信的人，才没有告诉你。他如此相信我，我又岂能失信呢?”最后还是把黄金还给了他。该故事发人深思之处在于蔡嶙所言，借条、契约、合同等外在的法律性约束固然很重要，但人心中的诚信更重要。如果一个人没有诚信，没有道德上的“慎独”自律，就可能去钻外在的、法律的空子，甚至为了一己私利而置法律义务于不顾。
人们对道德规范的敬重，人们心目中的诚信、道德人格和做人的尊严，就是人们的道德信仰。道德是一种实践理性，它要解决的是“我应该怎么做?”的问题。“我应该怎么做?”包括两个方面：一是我应该怎么做事?二是我应该怎么做人?二者不可分割，后者比前者更根本，且要通过前者表现出来。道德信仰涉及这两个方面，但其核心是第二个方面。道德信仰是对道德理想目标的确认和笃信，是对怎样做人的设定，是对理想人格的设定。道德信仰以人格来证明或显示人性的神圣和尊严，显示人的价值。一种道德信仰的确立，代表着一个道德价值体系的形成，又是对人们的道德认知、道德情感、道德意志、道德人格、道德观念、道德动机的整合，从而将人们的各种关于道德的零散的信念和价值观念统一起来，形成一个高低有序的道德价值观系统，成为规范一个人全部人生活动和行为选择的基本框架。整合一旦完成，作为一个价值系统整体，道德信仰又对道德生活的各个方面发挥重要的作用。
在中国传统文化中，“诚”非常接*道德信仰。孟子说：“诚者天之道也，思诚者人之道也。至诚而不动者，未之有也，不诚未有能动者也。”孟子所说的“诚”是真实无欺的意思。天是真实无欺的，人也应该追求真实无欺。达到至诚就能使人感动，达不到至诚就不能使人感动。荀子也重视“诚”，认为“诚”是所有德行的基础。他说：“君子养心莫善于诚，致诚则无它事矣。”把“诚”当作最重要的道德观念的是《中庸》。《中庸》说：“诚者，天之道也;诚之者，人之道也。诚者，不勉而中，不思而得，从容中道，圣人也。诚之者，择善而固执之者也。”可见，至诚是一种尽性知天并达到天人合一的崇高境界。这是中国特色的道德信仰，它不依靠宗教，不通过神学，而从人性与天性、人道与天道的合一，从相信人性善并通过尽性知天的途径，达到天人合一的理想的人生境界。
令人遗憾的是，在现实生活中，一些人经不起利益的诱惑，做出了很多伤天害理之事。出现这类现象的原因尽管是多方面的，但缺乏道德信仰是其中最普遍的原因。当前，在认真贯彻《公民道德建设实施纲要》中，在加强诚信教育中，我们应高度重视道德信仰的重要性。

寂寞的岁月，刻上年华的烙印，缠绕着青春，把思念推给衰老。
记忆像是一阵潮水，冲洗过我们曾经携手走过的沙滩，身后深深浅浅的脚印终究抵不住时光的消磨，在水中打着旋儿离我越来越远。然后我泪眼模糊的看着它远去的身影，一个人哭泣，一个人哀伤，再一个人思念。
燥热的夏季迫不及待的从远处赶来，从我身边经过，如同顽皮的孩子在我的额头上烫了一下。我捂住额头蹲下身子，看着泪水从指缝滑落，扬起层层尘埃，又瞬间被地表的温度排斥的无影无踪，不留一点痕迹。我恍然明白，曾经真实的出现在我生命中的一些人，那些给过我欢乐亦给过我泪水的人，正如泪水，抵不住现实的残忍，一点一滴的从我生命中流淌出去，少了他们的身影，却多了我的一份思念。
独自穿梭在陌生的城市，面对迎面而来的一张张陌生的脸孔，抑或不是这一切陌生，而是对于这一切我只是个陌生者。从小求学在外，如今又犹如梦幻般的回到儿时温存的故乡。细细一数，依然在时光的细砂中留下一年的足印，然而我依然不敢舍弃过去。因为我怕，怕在忘记过去的同时也就忘了我自己。于是，我就陷入对过去无穷无际的漫无目的的追忆中。
看着镜子中的脸，带着沉沉的暮蔼般的忧伤，想要找回一个笑容都那么难。因为曾经与我朝夕相处的友人都如同散开的风和我愈来愈远，隔着无法穿越的空间，遥遥无期。如果还可以清晰的看着那些明朗的脸庞，抓着他们的手真切的感受到他们传递给我的温度，我相信我的笑脸一定如同夏日的阳光那般璀璨。
晚风轻拂，繁星睥睨。总喜欢仰起头看着若隐若现的月牙儿，落寞蓦然充斥全身，空气中溢满了伤感的味道。如今千里相隔的友人是否也在望月思念着我?细碎的星光辉映眼底，照亮了我眼中浓得可以漂洋过海的思念。忧伤如同空气漫无目的地游走在天和地的整个罅隙，我知道自己棕色的瞳仁中弥漫着看不尽的苍白，挥不尽的苍老。
有时我也会想自己是不是已经被世界所遗弃，没有人会在寂寞的时候想起我。所以我一个人默默的垂垂老去。
最终抵不住心中思念的呐喊，手指跳跃在电话键上。不知道为什么我感到血液循环加快，一些不知名的情愫在体内流淌。当电话那边传来魂牵梦绕的声音时，喉咙处顿时好酸。空气中悬浮的水分子迅速附在睫毛上，湿湿的，模糊了我的视线。毫无预料的一句话飘来，那声音好飘渺却又好真实，驱赶了我心头厚厚地一片阴霾。他说，好想你，每天都在日生月落中思念，似乎要沉沦在漫无边际的潮水中。
风轻轻地摇曳着落叶，从嫩黄到深绿，最后衰黄飘落只剩下光秃余的枝丫。不知不觉，我已经在风中长大了一岁。一如往昔喜欢在夕阳的`余辉映红了天边时把回忆摊开，如水般轻轻的荡漾着涟漪。静静地等待月亮升起，看着游移的云朵镶上月光如水般晶莹剔透的银边，微笑着回忆，回忆那些充满氤氲烟雾的过去。

今天我演讲的题目是《改变不了环境，就改变自己》。
著名的文学家托尔斯泰曾经说过：“世界上只有两种人：一种是观望者，一种是行动者。大多数人想改变这个世界，但没人想改变自己。”想要改变现状，就要改变自己;要改变自己。就得改变自己的观念。一切成就，都是从正确的观念开始的。一连串的失败，也都是从错误的观念开始的。要适应社会，适应环境，适应变化，就要学会改变自己。
柏拉图告诉弟-子自己能够移山，弟-子们纷纷请教方法，柏拉图笑道，说：“很简单，山若不过来，我就过去。”弟-子们一片哗然。
这一个世界上根本就没有移山之术，唯一的一个移动山的方法就是：山不过来，我便过去。同样的道理，人不能改变环境，那么我们就要改变自己。
一个黑人小孩在他父亲的葡萄酒厂看守橡木桶。每天早上，他用抹布将一个个木桶擦干净，然后一排排地整齐地放好。令他生气的是，往往一夜之间，风就把他排列整齐的木桶吹得东倒西歪。
小男孩很委屈地哭了。父亲摸着小男孩的头说：“孩子，不要哭，我们可以想办法去征服风。”
于是小男孩擦干了眼泪坐在木桶边想啊想，想了半天终于想出了一个办法，他从井边挑来一桶又一桶的清水，然后把它们倒进那些空空的橡木桶里，然后他就忐忑不安地回家睡觉了。第二天，天刚蒙蒙亮，小男孩就匆匆地爬了起来，他跑到放桶的地方一看，那些橡木桶一个一个排列得整整齐齐，没有一个被风吹倒的，也没有一个被风吹歪的。小男孩开心地笑了，他对父亲说：“要想木桶不被风吹倒，就要加重木桶的重量。”男孩的父亲赞许地微笑了。
是的，我们不能改变风，改变不了这个这个世界上的许多东西，但是我们可以改变自己，给自己加重，这样我们就可以适应变化，不被打败!
在威斯敏斯特教堂地下室里，英国圣公会主教的墓碑上写着这样一段话：当我年轻自由的时候，我的想象力没有任何局限，我梦想改变这个世界。当我渐渐成熟明智的时候，我发现这个世界是不可改变的，于是我将眼光放得短浅了一些，那就只改变我的国家吧!但是我的国家似乎也是我无法改变的。当我到了迟暮之年，抱着最后一丝努力的希望，我决定只改变我的家庭、我最亲*的人——但是，唉!他们根本不接受改变。现在我在临终之际，我才突然意识到：如果起初我只改变自己，接着我就可以依次改变我的家人。然后，在他们的激发和鼓励下，我也许能改变我的国家。再接下来，谁又知道呢，也许我连整个世界都可以改变。
人生如水，人只能去适应环境。如果不能改变环境，就改变自己，只有这样，才能克服更多的困难，战胜更多的挫折，实现自我。如果不能看到自己的缺点和不足，只是一味地埋怨环境不利，从而把改变境遇的希望寄托在改变环境上，这实在是徒劳无益。
虽然我们不能改变世界，但我们可以改变自己，让我们用爱心和智慧来面对一切环境。
静谧之夜，是一声无奈的叹息。
一老妪，面容憔悴，欲言又止，仿佛心如死灰。在这让人黯然神伤的冷宫中**着。
陪伴她的是一盏只剩烛泪的灯台和一缕飘荡着的青纱帐。这些都在这一座软禁她的城里。
可以有一阵云雾，拂去人世间的沧桑，却拭不去她饱经风霜后的皱纹。
冷宫中是一番凌乱。
老妪好象要倾诉些什么，对着残月，言语缓中带愁。
“当年你何等威风，头带金冠，身披龙袍，普天之下，谁敢不从。囚禁王皇后、萧淑妃不费吹灰之力，诛杀长孙无忌也不过是轻于鸿毛。而今呵！可怜嫁在帝王家！”音调激动，凄凉，悲婉，似有一支利箭，朝上阳宫外刺去。
“你在位时，他们任你呼来喝去，愿为你‘上刀山，下油锅’，对你百般听从，一个个奴颜婢膝。而今，树倒猢狲散，大难来时各自飞。不必说来安慰你，即便是来探望的也恐怕是空无一人吧！‘当权皱眉有人问，退位饿死无人知。’”音调降了下来，如泣如诉。
“媚娘，你是一个坚强的女人，更是一个伟大的明君。你一生无愧天下苍生，你做到了，做到了让有才能的*民也能当宰相。因为你是从*民中崛起的，你强制推行的《姓氏录》是为了让被人歧视的家族不会永远沦落。你成功了——光大了武家，也兴复了李唐王朝。”她冷笑一生，仿佛受到了无尽的冤枉与委屈。

老妪收回目光，合上双眼。静静的躺在吱吱作响的床上。她开始回忆，她记起了在掖庭宫的日子，想到了龙椅、龙床，想到了李世民、张柬之兄弟最后，她想到了李治。
“媚娘，你变了。我宁愿你不做皇帝，只作为李治的一个妃子，甚至当一名不为人知的宫女，也许都过得很幸福，至少比现在过得好。”她有所思。
“不！如果那样便不是你了，你是为权力而生，为武代李兴而生，是命运注定你的人生路上充满血腥与杀戮，让你不得不费尽心机，不择手段。从你当上才人的那一刻，就必须小心翼翼，否则一招出错，满盘皆输。即使让你再经历胜过此生百倍的痛苦，你也会毫不犹豫，斩钉截铁的选择同一条路，你是不会后悔的。即便是在其中拼死挣扎，这才是你，一个真正的你。”她这样在心里告诉自己。

It is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful Saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the English language.
About a year and a half ago, I took part in my very first English Speech Contest. When I stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, I could hardly speak. I stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. My fears had paralyzed me.
While my passion for English has never changed, I lost my courage to speak in public. When my professor again encouraged me to take part in this Competition, I said “no.” I couldn’t endure yet another painful experience. He looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart. I will never forget his words. “Look,” he said, “We all have our fears, and you have yours. You could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again. Running away can never dispel your fears, but action will. A winner is not one who never fails，but one who never quits.”
I spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind. Then I made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: I would face my fears – and take part in the competition!
As it turned out, my dear old professor was right. Now, here I am, once again standing before a microphone. My heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, I have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference!

Many people burn incense and kowtow, do good deeds and strive for virtues, not just for the present, but mainly to let God see their sincerity so as to be reborn into a better afterlife, or to achieve the highest enlightenment after several lives of practice. They do believe in afterlife. But I can't help asking: Suppose there were no afterlife, would you still do good deeds and strive for virtues? And If God does not see what you are doing, would you still be so upright and selfless? If you work, not for serving the public and liberating the others, but just for a better afterlife of your own, isn't it a little too selfish? Comparing with this kind of believers, those who don't believe in afterlife, but still keep doing good deeds, are the most sincere and honest philanthropists, because they do them not for themselves but for other. You may wonder if I believe in afterlife. My answer is: I know nothing about my previous life, so I dare not make improper comments on afterlife. But I do hope there's afterlife! Because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding. I have so many dreams, so many wishes, so many ambitions, as well as so many regrets and concerns. If there were no afterlife, all of them will remain unrealized!
