It’s highly cultivated and watered day by day.” Like an infant, it needs constant care; like a young tree, it can not be left to the tender mercies of severe weather. True friendship consists more in “a friend in need” to give to than “a friend in need” to take from. A true friend is a person who can be turned to, who is ready to lend a listening ear, who is willing to share feelings.
Friendship should be mutual, otherwise it will be subject to withering like plant in drought. Like genuine love, true friendship has to be a two way experience. Be it the former or the latter, if one expects to be solely on the receiving end, then s/he will be too optimistic about it: it is hoping against hope that it will last. Every time I used Otohime,I felt like a princess,an environmentalist princess on the toilet. It was a longed for feeling. Over the past decade,I shuffled in and out of many kinds of public restrooms in China——filthy smelly water closets in outlying areas,spacious luxurious lavatories in five—star hotels,forever—occupied girls' stalls on campus during school,and smart modern mobile toilets in international fairs. 我相信，大多数家长都已看到过前段时间出台的英语考试改革政策，而昨天也正式出台政策就是20xx年英语将正式退出新高考。那在这，各位就不禁要问，英语还有用吗？还有必要学吗？而我的回答是肯定的，当然不是因为我是英语老师，我才这样说。首先，大家可以看到现在是个国际化的社会，在当今社会，与外界的交流，最广泛运用的官方语言依然是英语，在各种国际大会时用的最多的还是英语。像我们的，在5日出访埃塞俄比亚时，与当地就是直接用英语交谈的。而我也相信，各位家长还是希望自己的孩子以后能走出去，看看更广阔的世界，而这时，懂得一门通用的语言是显得尤其重要的。不说以后孩子为了更好的分数，为了更好的学校而学英语，就为自己个人的发展，学*英语也就相当于学*了一门技能。其次，现在大学里很多专业都还是要求英语基础的，甚至有些科目直接是英文版的。孩子的专业影响以后孩子的就业，如果你的孩子选择的专业就是这样的一门需要英语的专业，现在这个时候，你还会对他说，英语不用考了，学了没用的话吗？再次，我讲一件真事。这个五一假，我一个在银行工作的姨妈来三亚玩，期间，她谈起前段时间错失了个很好的机会。原来香港的东亚银行的长沙分行里，有个职位她极有可能进去，但唯一令人遗憾的是她不懂英语。言语之间，不无失落。
在这呢，我也就是想告诉各位家长，在这样的困惑面前，作为家长的我们应该对英语持一个什么样的态度，因为你的看法会在很大程度上影响孩子的观点。如果你都不重视，孩子就更不会重视了。不管怎样，学*知识不会有错，也许这个知识还会成为影响你孩子以后事业的一项技能。
第二，我想给大家念个故事，也许有些家长曾经看到过这个故事，但请允许我在这用几分钟再念念这个故事。
有位母亲第一次被儿子所在的幼儿园请去开家长会，幼儿园的老师对母亲说 ：“你的儿子有多动症，在板凳上连三分钟都坐不了，你最好带他去医院看一看。
回家的路上，儿子问母亲老师都说了些什么？母亲鼻子一酸，差点流下泪来。因为全班30位小朋友，惟有自己的儿子表现最差；惟有对自己的儿子老师表现出不屑。然而，她还是这样告诉了自己的儿子：“老师表扬你了，说宝宝原来在板凳上坐不了一分钟，现在能坐三分钟了。其他的妈妈都非常羡慕妈妈了，因为只有宝宝进步了。”
那天晚上，儿子破天荒地吃了两碗米饭，并且没有让大人喂。
儿子上小学了。母亲再次去参加学校召开的家长会。老师对母亲说“全班50名同学，这次数学考试，你儿子排名49名，我们怀疑你儿子智力是不是有些障碍，你最好带他去医院查一查。”

孩子上了初中，学校又一次召开家长会。她坐在儿子的座位上，等着老师点她儿子的名字，因为每次家长会，她儿子的名字总是在差生的行列中被点到。然而，这次却出乎她的预料，直到会议结束，都没听到。母亲反倒有些不*惯。临散会，母亲去问老师，老师告诉她：“按你儿子现在的成绩，考重点中学还不太把握。”
母亲怀着欣喜的心情走出校门，此时她发现儿子在等她，路上她扶着儿子的肩膀，心理有一种说不出的甜蜜。她告诉儿子：“班主任对你非常满意，老师说了，只要你努力，很有希望考上重点高中。”
儿子高中毕业的那年。那是第一批大学录取通知书下达的日子，学校打来电话让儿子到学校去一趟，母亲此时有一种预感，儿子有可能被清华大学录取了，因为在报考时，她给儿子说过，她相信自己的儿子有能力考取这所学校。
儿子从学校回来了，把一封印有清华大学招生办公室的特快专递交到她的手里之后，突然转身跑到自己的房间里大哭起来。边哭边说：“妈妈，我一直都知道，其实我并不是一个非常聪明的孩子，是您这些年来始终的鼓励”
这时，母亲悲喜交加，再也按捺不住十几年来凝聚在心中的泪水，任它打湿在手中的.信封上。
通过这个故事，我想各位家长也能明白我的意思，就是对孩子要进行赏识教育，不要用全世界孩子的优点去比孩子身上的缺点，多鼓励鼓励孩子，并且真正花心思在孩子身上。有很多家长会说，一直都忙，没时间管。这我们能理解，但孩子是你的，不是学校的，作为老师我们一定会尽职尽责地教育孩子，而家长也是孩子的第一教师。有调查证明，作为父母的我们只要每天有15分钟的时间是完完全全陪着孩子的，这个孩子的成长也会不一样的。这个陪是指父母在这15分钟时间里不做任何与孩子的无关的事，比如坐在孩子身边玩手机，看电脑等，这也是不行的。同时，在陪伴孩子时，多夸夸孩子，但也不要为了夸孩子而夸孩子，太容易得到的东西往往不会让人懂得珍惜。
第三，我建议各位家长，多多培养孩子的阅读*惯。前段时间，我们接受了一个来自北京的教育专家的培训，他说他没有手机，也不让孩子接触任何什么Ipad、Iphone等电子产品。不过，在这样一个信息化的时代，不让孩子接触这些，确实有些难做到，但是我们可以在另一方面多多培养孩子的其他*惯。读书能修身养性，我们可以陪着孩子一起读。阅读，对一个人的影响不是一时的，而是一生的。在这呢，英语就有个阅读要求，而这个读，是读出声的。就是每周的必须要完成的作业，家长也许都知道，每周学生回去要到家长那将所学过的课文从头至尾读一遍给家长听。在这呢，我希望家长不要忽视这十几分钟，即使你听不懂也希望你能耐心听孩子读完。这不仅是对所学知识的巩固，也是锻炼孩子的口头表达能力。毕竟英语是门语言，要说出来才行。

How can you be naturally confident in front of an audience? It goes without saying that you should look neat and presentable. The fact that you have taken pride in your appearance should help, as should a friendly smile on your face.
如何才能自然地保持自信在观众面前做演讲呢?毫无疑问你需要做到穿着整齐而且与场合匹配。良好的演讲着装和保持微笑都会为你加分。
However, your body language will give you a better sense of confidence than an expensive suit or a killer smile. When standing in front of an audience, you should avoid swaying from side to side. Swaying will not only make you look nervous, but will also make it seem that you are out of control.
不过，比良好着装和淡定表情更重要的是在演讲中保持良好身体语言，这样会让你看上去更自信。但你面对观众演讲时，要尽力避免晃来晃去，这样做只会让你看上去非常紧张，好像你不太能控制你自己的姿态。
To strike a confident posture, stand with your legs apart and your body facing the audience. Do not sway or move your weight from one leg to the other. To be in control of your audience, you must appear to be in control of your own body.

You should also avoid turning your back to the audience. If you have opted to use a whiteboard, do not spend too much time writing on the board during the presentation. I find that the best thing to do is to have written everything you need on the board before the audience arrives.

If you need to point to notes on your white board, do not face the white board directly but stand so that the audience can at least see your side profile.

If you want to avoid showing the audience that you are nervous, then make sure to bear the following in mind. Always avoid touching your face or head during a presentation; touching the face and head are indicators that you are feeling uneasy and perhaps even vulnerable. Also, if you are asked a question by a member of the audience, try not to fold your arms. Doing so creates a barrier between you and your audience and will signal to them that you do not like being asked questions, or that you are feeling a little defensive.

For my own presentations, I prefer to use nothing but a white board, and I would suggest practicing presentations with nothing but the same to get you started.

If you have no experience writing on a board, this is easily remedied by practice. You could also try using a large ruler to draw some lines on the board in order to keep your writing straight. Another thing to do is walk to the back of the room that you are presenting in and check whether your writing is large enough to be seen by every member of the audience.

Remembering people’s names can be difficult, but there are ways to make this process easy. Before coming up with a way to remember names, you should carefully consider the room that you will be using for your presentation.

The often quoted advice of most books on the subject of presentations is to keep all information in batches of three. I agree with this. I also think that you should tell your audience where your presentation will go in terms of information and insight. To this effect, I’m going to offer a little advice that will help you get the audience on your side before you have even spoken one word.
很多关于做好演讲的书籍都有在讲解如何把所有你要表达的.信息安排好。我很赞同这点，我同时觉得你也要根据你所演讲的信息，主题，来安排你演讲的先后结构。说到这点，我在这里要给你一些小建议来帮助你提高。
Your presentation, like a novel, should have a beginning, middle and end. I would suggest that in order to make sure your audience retains as much information as possible, you should use the three parts of the presentation as follows:
Beginning: Tell them what you are going to tell them.
Middle: Tell them.
End: Tell them what you have told them.

除此之外，还要有良好的心理素质。多进行模拟演讲，有良好的心理素质，才能更好地表现自己，取得演讲的良好效果。有的同学能讲一口地道的美式英语，但由于缺乏良好的心理素质而怯场，甚至在比赛中紧张得说不出话来或有一些不良的举止而被淘汰出局。

1、选题(how to choose your topic)
如果演讲的题目由个人自由选择，或在若干个给定的题目中自由选择，你选择的依据是什么?或者说选题时应考虑哪些因素。
首先是演讲者本人。你必须了解这个题目，喜欢这个题目。这样，演讲时才能真正地投入，才能有信心、有激情、有真情，才能现场自由发挥、创造。因为只有当你充满激情时，无论是爱还是恨，都更易于克服紧张心理，增强自由联想的能力，达到超常发挥。
二要考虑听众，包括评委。因为他们是你的裁判人，你的演讲水*如何，将最终由他们来认定。所以选题时除了考虑本身各种因素之外，还要考虑听众的知识结构、文化背景、英语水*、职业特征等等。你的演讲内容越贴*他们的生活、他们的工作、他们所关心的问题，就越容易引起他们的共鸣。那么在同等水*上，他们会对你的印象更深刻，如果你讲的东西听众不熟悉甚至反感，效果肯定就差。
三是要了解时间，场合。要事先弄清演讲会的具体时间与地点，想一想这段时间人们关心的焦点是什么，这个时间有什么特别的事件或意义，这个地点有什么特别之处。如演讲在北京奥运会前后举行，谈谈奥运会听众会感到更亲切。如在四川大地震后，可以谈民族精神，关爱等主题，更能调动听众和评委的激情。此外，还要灵活利用演讲的时间与环境。若能在当时当地发现某些事物与你的选题有关，临时利用这些事物则更生动、更有力。
2、遣词造句(vocabulary and style)
演讲时要尽量选用简单易懂的日常口语词汇，尽量少用或不用大词、难词、生僻词，句子也不宜过长。因为演讲不同于写文章，读者可以自由选择阅读方法与速度，可快可慢，还可以反复阅读，慢慢品味，而你的听众却只有一次机会，听不懂也无法补救。更何况这些词发音不易掌握，一旦发错音，心理紧张影响情绪，演讲必定受影响，而听众只会认为你的语言水*差。演讲时尽量不要向听众或评委发问，人家一般不愿意回答你的问题，你会觉得很尴尬，甚至乱了阵角。但可以用设问的手法，如论证吸烟有害时，你可以用这种设问提出欲反驳的论点：Can smoking help us think more clearly?论述学*英语的重要性时，可以用设问开场：Why must we study English hard?这种问句可以说是无疑而问，目的在于加重语气，表达激动的感情，使演讲生动活泼以引起昕众的注意，去听你进一步的论述。但设问时语气要重，语流要慢并要停顿一下，给听众一点回味的时间，然后再继续表明自己的观点和态度。为了增加演讲的气势和感染力，应在恰当的地方运用排比句，也叫对称句(parallelism)。即两个或几个相连的句子，句法结构完全相同的修辞手法。英国前首相温斯顿·丘吉尔(Winston Churchill)就是一位演讲大师，他非常善于运用这类修辞手法。在第二次世界大战中，当德国开始入侵苏联时，丘吉尔发表了举世闻名的演讲。他在演讲中多处运用了对称句，其中连续用了七个“Isee……”，有力地揭露了***的残暴，歌颂了苏联人民浴血奋战的高尚精神。这七个排比句犹如七幅连续闪动的画面，使听众情绪激昂，热血沸腾。
