Is It Good to Send Students to Study Abroad?
In recent year, as people’sliving quality increase, most families are tending to send their children tostudy abroad. This phenomenon has caused most people’s attention. Some argue that we should send children to foreign country to study because they think that other countries’ education is better than our traditional Chinese education. Some don’t think so because they believe that students should learn our traditional culture instead of going abroad. In my opinion, I think students should be sent to foreign country to receive sophisticated education. Reasons are listed as the following.
Firstly, Students can learn more through foreign country’s education. As we all know, most students study justfor entering into a better university in our country. All they learn is how to pass exams and get high scores in school. On the contrary, the Western education pays attention to students’ practical ability which would be a more efficient way to learn rather than getting knowledge from books. To get more experience, students should be sent to abroad to study.
Secondly, students would be more independent after study abroad. When students are sent to abroad, they must take care of themselves in all aspects, gradually, they would learn how to deal with things they confronted rather than turning to their parents as they may do in their own country.
All in all, students should be sent to abroad to study so that they can attain more knowledge and also become more independently.
After the college entrance examination or college graduation, some students will choose to go abroad to for further study. For this behavior, some people support it and some against it. In fact, going abroad not only needs a lot of money but also requires the students have a good foundation of English. If the students have the condition to study abroad, I suggest they choose to go. After all, knowledge is no boundary and the more they learn the better they will be. But the students who are not having those conditions, I don’t think they should go abroad, because the stress for them is too large. No matter domain education or abroad education can educate them well. Besides, maybe they still need to consider their own character situation. In a word, whether a person should go abroad or not depends on their own situation.
高考后或者大学毕业后，有一部分学生会选择去留学。对于这一行为，有些人持肯定态度，有些则持否定态度。实际上，出国留学不仅仅需要大量的金钱，还需要学生具有良好的英语基础。如果学生符合这些条件，我建议他们出国留学。毕竟，知识是无国界的，而且学到的越多越好。但是，如果不符合这些条件的.学生，我则不建议出国留学，因为这对他们来说压力太大了。不管是国内还是国外的教育都可以把他们教得很好，此外，他们也许还要考虑到自身性格这一点。总之，出不出国留学应该根据每个人自己的情况而定。
The other day I announced that I would go abroad for further studies right after my college education. My decision evoked the immediate objection of my family： Why？ Why should I borrow a huge sum of money for overseas studies while I might receive the same education at home at relatively low cost？ My answer is： in addition to knowledge， I can gain experience that those who stay at home will never have.
First， experience is the opportunity for the real-life use of foreign languages. While a person can study a foreign language at home， the effect can never be compared with constant use of the language in academic and everyday life. There is no better opportunity to improve second-language skills than living in the country in which it is spoken. Living in English-speaking countries such as America and Australia for several years， for example， my English will be as perfect as native speakers.
Second， living and studying abroad offers me a different perspective of the world. On a university campus， foreign students are likely to encounter their counterparts from different countries and areas and are exposed to different ideas and values. This helps me to have a meaningful understanding of different societies and inevitably sees my own country in a new light.
本人出国期间研究的题目是：英语学*者语用能力和语言能力的性别差异。本研究是语用学、社会语言学和二语*得的交叉性研究。此次出国有三个目的：第一，学*和收集国外语用学、社会语言学和二语*得的最新研究理论和研究方法;第二，学*国外的语言教学方法，当前*最需要的是"英语+专业"的复合型人才，如何使学生的语用能力和语言能力齐头并进，杜绝英语学*者高分低能现象成为当前*二语*得领域的研究热点，因此，学*国外的教学方法将对我国英语教学和学*有很大启发;第三，此次出国带回的国外语用学、社会语言学和二语*得最新理论和研究将会为我国语言学界注入新鲜血液，起到增砖添瓦的作用。
性别做为个体差异的一个重要组成部分，国内其相关研究基本集中在社会语言学领域，其中较为关注的是社会生活中男女两性的话语行为方式差异。在二语*得过程中性别差异的研究并不多，尤其是对于学生语言能力和语用能力的性别差异研究更是屈指可数。国内关于英语语用能力的重要性已得到一直认可，但如何提高英语语用能力实证研究的研究在*还处于起步阶段。作为语言学发源地的美国，具有优越的语言学研究环境和基础，拥有诸多世界顶级的语言学家，代表着世界语言学研究的发展方向。
本人选择的托来多大学是一所美国知名的`公立综合大学，该校的英语学院开设有语言学方向的本科生和研究生教育，具有坚实的语言学教学和研究团队。本人选择的导师是托莱多大学英语学院语言学团队的Melinda? Reichelt教授，她主要从事社会语言学、二语*得和语用学研究，主要教授语言学专业的相关课程，她对英语学*者语用能力和语言能力的性别差异这个题目有着极大的兴趣，本人其他的在研项目也几乎都和Melinda? Reichelt教授的研究方向一致。此前，本人通过电子邮件的方式已经和她进行了很多交流，并且在国内已经做了一些前期的实证研究，收集到一些一手数据。Melinda教授对本人的研究方向和方法也非常感兴趣，认为我的研究方法对他的很多课题也非常有帮助。赴美后，我们将对美国环境下的英语专业学生的语言能力和语用能力性别差异作进一步研究，具体研究安排如下：
20xx.2.1-20xx.4.1：查找和收集语用学、社会语言学和二语*得相关资料，熟悉当前语言学最前沿的研究，尤其是和本人研究题目相关的;观察和学*托莱多大学的教学模式。

Going abroad for Studies
The other day I announced that I would go abroad for further studies right after my college education. My decision evoked the immediate objection of my family： Why? 第三，国外的经验，因为它可能是令人沮丧和痛苦的，是有帮助的。一个人出国学*经验更困难往往难以适应新的文化，在处理所有的问题。然而，困难，加上文化撞击所带来的挫折，是一种有益的经验对一个人的人格的未来的生活和发展。
尽管出国留学是昂贵的，也许是痛苦的，但这种付出是值得的。不仅仅是对利益的获得的知识，但工作经验在一个人的生活。
In recent years， studying abroad has flourished. Thousands of schloars and students have gone to foreign countries to study. Many people are sparing no effort in ap*ing for going abroad.
Attending schools abroad has many advantages. In the first place， students who have studied abroad can act as mediators between peoples of different cultures so as to promote international understanding. Secondly， we can learn much more advanced knowledge of science and technology from the foreign countries. Thirdly， we can enjoy the contact with new and different cultures so as to increase the awareness of our own culture. Fourthly， we can learn a foreign language more quickly.
However，studying abroad may have disadvantages such as language barrier in the first few months or financial difficulties before getting a scholarship. In spite of these，the advantages greatly outweigh the disadvantages. It is advisable to attend schools abroad.
